Horrible experience. They will send the wrong order and argue if you try to call to correct it.

We haven’t been here with family in awhile, but we will definitely be coming back. The prices were very fair, quantities good, and the flavors very authentic and so good. I’d recommend the stir fried beef with fresh chili (山椒小炒牛), dry chili fish filet (香辣鱼片), and the salt and pepper Japanese tofu (椒盐豆腐)。

My husband and I got delivery from them the other night and I'd say okay sums it up. My husband ordered boiled lamb and received an overly greasy soup that had lamb in it. I ordered Mongolian beef and to be honest I'm not sure I got what I ordered. The description reads beef slices with green and white onions and mushrooms, in a seafood, soy and oyster sauce. My order did contain slices of beef and what appeared to be red onion. However there were no mushrooms but plenty of carrots, broccoli, and corn. The meat was tender and juicy and the veggies were warm but crips. But I remain confused about what I received. Additionally while the textures were nice and it appeared properly cooked it lacked flavor. The spring rolls I got were nice. Slightly crunchy outside warm inside. For dessert I got the pumpkin cakes which are soft warm pillows of sweet goodness with a rather gummy texture. We enjoyed them. My husband got the pork egg rolls which were very heavy and didn't really have much flavor. We are up in the air as to whether or not we're going to give them another chance.

I've ordered twice from here. The first time the food was great! It was the best food. This past weekend I ordered and the food was so bad. The noodles tasted rancid. The beef was good but the onions tasted moldy. The rice also didn't taste fresh. It really put me off from ordering from here and was disappointing because my first order was really 5 stars good.

Loa Sze Chuan is slipping. The Downers Grove location has been an annual stop for us after the Lunar New Years parade. We'd stop by a few times throughout the year. We hadn't been to Downers Grove for a year and it seems a lot has changed. For starters...we didn't even realize we didn't get tea until after the server offered another table tea. When we looked...EVERY table had tea. The main reason we eat hear used to be the flavor...and heat!! Ordering anything on the menu with 2 chili peppers used to mean HEAT! This time...NO HEAT, and barely any flavor. Just checked the other reviews and it looks like I'm not the key one who noticed. We may visit the Aurora location to see if the heat and flavor went there, but it looks like bigger isn't always better. As Loa Sze Chuan grows, the quality may be suffering. It's turning into "just another Chinese restaurant"...

My review is about Lao Sze Chuan House Downers Grove, IL. We were visiting the area and decided to stop for lunch at Lao Sze Chuan House in Downers Grove. We stopped at the Lao Sze Chuan House in Downers Grove because we ate at Lao Sze Chuan Chinatown often and thought the food would be the same. We ordered two lunch specials, which come with choice of appetizer, which we ordered pork egg rolls, soup was also included, we chose hot & sour. For our lunch entrees, Dry Chili Chicken and Sole Fish Fillet Chili Bean Sauce. The egg rolls were very bland, tasteless. The hot & sour soup was bland, salty. The sole was overly salty. The chicken was fatty, not in a good way, salty and flat tasting. Won't be going back. The Downers Grove restaurant, Lao Sze Chuan House... ...IS NOT THE SAME and SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED with LOA SZE CHUAN CHINATOWN, Located in Chicago's Chinatown One star for our very nice server.

Quality went downhill. Food that’s supposed to be served with bok choi now served with gross warm American lettuce. You could at least use green cabbage. Less ingredients being used and now not as flavorful. I came here for over 15 years but don’t know if I’ll come back.

The Downers location of Lao Sze Chuan used to be a 5-star restaurant for me. The quality post pandemic/ inflation has gone way down. I have been eating here for over 15 years but I don't know if I'll be back. What kind of authentic Chinese restaurant doesn't have bok choi? The fish is now served here on warm American lettuce. Gross. I don't want to eat warm, wilted lettuce mixed in with my fish. The dry chili chicken has WAY less garlic, ginger, and hot peppers than it used to and now just seems too oily and not that spicy. It's no longer something I'm craving. It's sad bc my kids grew up coming here. I'm only going to go to the Chinatown location when I'm in the city. At least they still have bok choi. Head lettuce or romaine lettuce isn't supposed to be warm.

Ordered from here tonight through Door Dash. This may be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. First ordered Mongolian Beef gave me a completely different dish which had carrots and baby corn in it. The Kung Pao chicken had zero flavor and was swimming in oil. The egg foo young chicken could barely find any chicken in it and also extremely bland. Food was all ordered medium spicy, zero heat in any of the dishes. Find another place to order they're expensive and definitely not worth it.

Hidden gem with some of the most delicious food for a great price. I've had many items on their menu and I've never ever been disappointed with anything there.

First time ordering. We had food delivered. They do offer their own delivery and the fee is very reasonable ($3.50 not including tip). This restaurant specializes in Sichuan style food, but being we are just getting over being sick, we stuck with standard fare. We ordered Pork Egg Rolls, Combination Fried Rice with Egg, and Shrimp Chow Mein. All very good. Egg rolls taste homemade and not the buffet tasting ones. Fried rice was dark and clean tasting. No burned wok taste. Lots of Shrimp, too. Shrimp Chow Mein - lots of shrimp and all the vegetables were super fresh. No wilted bean sprouts! We will definitely reorder take out from here and be a little more adventurous next time. Prices a fair for the quality and amount of food, too.

Nice looking dining room... No customers!! It was one of the worse dinners. Egg rolls mediocre. Chop Suey.. beef was inedible. Ate the rice, bean sprouts only, vegetables hard not cooked. No sauce. The hot mustard container had hardened mustard.. afraid to use!! Used the packets instead. I live close....I NEVER SEE CARS IN LOT! I had done takeout during Covid, it was disappointing. I should not have gone back. When you see a customer hasn't eaten the food and you bring a container to take home and I say I couldn't chew the the meat..some courtesy should be extended. She walked away.I was in Hospitality 15 years, server, manager, caterer. I will never go there again. Never see card in lot !!!!!
