DO NOT EAT HERE! My mom went there yesterday and while trying to enjoy her meal there was a COCKROACH on the table. The waitress didn’t look surprised and offered to switch her table. She was disgusted for obvious reasons and left. Absolutely disgusting ?

Lived in Downets Grove almost 40 years. Had Omega meals every hour of the day. Recently got there with my spouse and a dozen other class of ‘74 Elmhurst College (now Elmhurst University) grads for breakfast. Wow, we were there at a huge table for several hours, nobody’s order got screwed up, Madeline was a 5 star server who didn’t mind separate checks and pouring lots ‘n lots of coffee. I had the Harbor Light Scrambler: eggs, cheese, bacon, and obviously fresh delicious tomatoes. Gargantuan amounts of food.
My wife had a gourmet bowl of oatmeal with cranberries, nuts, and lots of brown sugar and raisins too. All perfectly cooked and promptly presented. The lightest, fluffiest pancakes you could ever imagine!
Some things never change and I’m sure happy Omega is as great as ever. Nice, clean bathroom too!

Omega used to be one of the BEST places around town to go, especially for late night food... The last few times we stopped in it's been disappointing, but for some reason we decided to try again tonight... I guess we always have hopes that it's going to be okay again... First of all, they stopped serving the beautiful basket of breads and muffins awhile ago, so that's a bummer... but the menu has gotten exorbitant in price and the quality has sadly gone WAY down...

Our server was polite and quick, he was great, but the meal was such a HUGE disappointment... I had ordered the southwest salad ("with no onion please") which came with a soup, so I ordered the chicken gumbo soup which was great, but when the salad came out, it was loaded with onion and had tons of green and red peppers (which were not in the description,) and it didn't have the avocado - or olives which I had asked to sub for the onion... Honestly it didn't even look like the salad that I ordered, I think they gave me something else. Plus the chicken was hot and the cheese was melted all over the salad which was a little weird, but whatever... (Also I'm so glad I asked for the Southwest dressing on the side because it had a really funky thousand Island-ish taste, and was not good.)

I ended up saying that's okay, and thought I'd take the taco salad with chicken instead, but after thinking about it I just decided to just have a regular side salad...

I was dipping my lettuce pieces in the ranch dressing that I had, and as I picked up a piece I noticed what looked to be larvae ! ??

I showed my friend, and we both agreed that was definitely a worm of some sort... I quietly mentioned this to our server, and then suddenly two other staff members were at our table checking it out, and the one guy rubbed it off and said "no it's not, but I'll gladly feed this to my bearded dragon"... Okay, good for your bearded dragon, but not good for my appetite, thanks... WTH !? ??

Meanwhile, I just decided that I was finished, my friend was done with their meal anyway by that time.

Our bill arrived, and I was charged for the soup (no worries,) but I was also charged for the side salad which was barely touched, so I asked our server if he could please take it off the bill, and he did.

We tipped him fine, but the entire experience was bizarre. We went up and paid and left, both of us looking at each other and decided we're never going back.

Sadly, time and time again we think it's going to be good, but it's just not the same Omega anymore.

It's such a shame.

I went here with my parents yesterday for a late lunch. My dad said they have the best french onion soup so I ordered that and he was right. It was so delicious and it was nice and hot which soup should be. I don't like when soup is served luke warm. The bread they serve is warm and doesn't look like much when they bring it out but it was also delicious. I can't wait to go back again! The waiter we had was not very patient with my parents who are elderly and I had to tell the waiter to please be patient. Wait until he gets old. He was a jerk!
