The only reason I stopped coming in was your employees ( Rotating young High School Kids always get my order wrong ) it's been twice where that kid that works at Bamboozels that works at your establishment or maybe doesn't work there anymore. Always gets my order wrong. For almost, I think its about 14 bucks now for a Quart the last time I ordered. That's unexcusable for a mistake to happen especially twice. Other times , they wouldn't even fill up the quart to the top. There were many times ( five instances where they didn't even fill it up to the top of quart , it would 1 and half /4 of empty space )
Price : I mean shoots I have been coming to Van's custard for almost since I was 18 aka now I am 34. Long time, lmao! Quart back then was 7.87 something like that for years. I know the price hike is due to inflation and again you are a business man and have to justify it moving forward as new business owner.
I hope moving forward you find that strive.
Still support you , you just you need the proper team. From all the reviews I have been seeing and also experienced it first hand.

Dead mouse in the Van's private parking space by the entrance. Bathrooms were gross, the prices increased on everything by $3, the employee told us the burger patties and grilled chicken were both replaced by a cheaper patty and that this was not going to change. He was training an employee not to pass a certain line when filling the custard as it's expensive. When I asked why the burger patties tasted different, were thin undercooked, and falling apart and the fries were burnt the teenage cook said that's how they are now and explained why. He also said the new owner wants to make more money, so they had to buy cheaper meat. He mentioned that the owner is Spanish and will be relocating the restaurant to the Spring Hill Mall parking lot because there are more spanish people there. He proceeded to mention that they will be adding a drive-thru as the owner wants it to be like a fast food place, so he can make more money. When I told him about the dead mouse just outside their door, he didn't seem surprised either. I had to insist on a refund, and the cook said lots of people weren't happy, so he gave me a full refund only after I persisted to ask as we had to throw out all three burgers and fries. The table next to us was talking about the custard tasting different. They didn't seem pleased. I should've left as soon as I saw the dead mouse.

2 burgers with fries and drinks are $45..I expect the best burger and fries for that money. Not the case. Would rather go to five guys. Sweet potato fries were only good item. Regular fries were oily, soggy and gross. Burgers were mediocre at best. Dirty tables even when not busy. As others mentioned, the employees don’t care about being there and wouldn’t be bothered to care for customers. Get an adult manager if you care for this business. Won’t be coming back.

THE BEST BURGERS AND SWEET POTATO FRIES IN ILLINOIS PERIOD! PLEASE GIVE YOUR EMPLOYEES A RAISE, they are all very kind and helpful! Also the turtle sundae was very delicious. The establishment is very spacious and clean. I love visiting places where the employees are having fun while still providing excellent customer service. It almost felt like i was in the krusty krab with a lot of spongebobs and no squidwards. ??
UPDATE 8/10 this time i had the classic chicago hotdog and sweet potato fries! Unfortunately this time around the hot dog was not all that great, very bland and actual weiner didn’t have much flavor and the sweet potatoes were a bit burnt, but i think this is a minor mistake than can easily be fixed in the future! Can’t wait to be back!

A BAN on VAN'S from this family!
Tonight... dairy queen gets my frozen treat business. ?
I recently visited Van's in East Dundee with my family and friends, and had a very mixed experience. The food was actually quite good—the burgers were juicy and flavorful and the fries were SPECTACULAR... but didn't have a chance to order custard... because we were told they were closed at 845pm (15m before closing). As you may already hear in the tone of this review, the service was a different story altogether.
From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly rude. They seemed annoyed by our presence and were unhelpful with our questions about the menu. The attitude only worsened as our visit went on. Eventually, things escalated to the point where we were unceremoniously kicked out at 916pm... the very vocal and rude employee came over to us and said, "we've been closed for 30m, and we have to go home too!" (I'd really hate to think that it was because both my family and our friends are of the 'browner' skin tone)
It's a real shame because the food has potential, but the terrible service completely overshadowed our meal. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.
Note- there are nicer ways of letting patrons know that the establishment is closed, than shouting "we gotta go home too !"

I love Van’s, and I wish things here were what it used to be. I remember walking in, only a couple of years ago, and everyone was all smiles asking about your day. Today was a different story; I walked in to a bunch of children who could not care less about being there. The cashier kid had his back towards the customers and on his phone. I called out “excuse me” a couple of times and then another toddler emerged from the kitchen to take my order. Let’s see an adult back in that business and maybe your customers will return from the Dairy Queen across the street.

Second time I’ve come here didn’t order anything special with the kids. Burger fries some chicken tenders and a hot dog. Been almost 30 minutes waiting for a back order all while their ice cream machine was grinding away so loudly you can’t even have a conversation with anyone. Wish I could give it more but clearly management is mia. Probably won’t be coming back here anymore. Sad because there aren’t too many places in downtown here.
This is the best cheeseburger I have ever had. Hands down!! I will never settle for anything else. THANK YOU!

If this is the idea of good custard please let my experience be an anomaly . Custard was runny in cup in store , and drank a good deal of it by the time I got both sundaes to the car . Staff was young and seemed kind of out of it . So unfortunately don't plan on revisiting business again . Prices seem pretty high also .

We used to love this place. Ever since the new ownership, it has gone to pieces. We have went back a few times hoping it would be better but it only gets worse. The first time we went after new ownership, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. There was a literal poop in the urinal (definitely lost my appetite). Second time, the whole place was just dirty and the teenagers running it were rude and did not understand customer service. Went back again today, and although the kids were nicer, they gave two watered down malts to my parents who both said that it tasted like flavored milk. When they brought it back to be fixed, the kids said that they were running out of vanilla ice cream so that’s why it’s like that. My mom still said she wanted a new one or something else. They took them and made new ones in the back that were much better. Just very unprofessional and not well run. Owners clearly don’t care.
