Dined at Smokey D's in Des Moines for the 1st time in a VERY long time today, and came away with very positive marks for them. I ordered the Lunch Rack of Ribs (4 bones) which comes with 2 sides. For my sides I chose Cole Slaw and Baked Beans. Wife had the 2 meat Dinner with 2 sides, and she also had Slaw and Beans. After getting our own fountain drink, we were able to find a table immediately. I then went to the counter where there was a number of bottles of BBQ sauces available to be taken to your table. Kinda neat, and I can speak that this is a post-Covid thing, as for years we have dined here and the sauces have been on your table. Good job, Smokey D's on this! The meals were GREAT. Seriously, I could have taken a couple of the ribs and some of the sides home for later, but figured what the heck. Wife felt the same with her meal. Oh yeah, you get garlic toast with the plates too! So, here ya go Smokey D's ... Cleanliness - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Going the extra mile - 5 stars (this takes into account the sauces available for your table, which are then wiped down after each use.) Hell, even the men's restroom was tidy. And you know how men can be pigs. (pardon the pun in this BBQ place!) Just finishing up the lunch hour on this busy Saturday, and there were just a few drops of water on the vanity between the sinks and the towel dispensers.

I’m not a big meat-eater but once in a while I gotta have some BBQ. We tried Smokey D’s while visiting Des Moines and it is among the best I’ve ever had. Between the two of us we had ribs, chicken, pork, and brisket with potato casserole, baked beans, and marinated veggies. The meats were tender, flavorful, and without excess fat, and the sides were equally yummy. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend and would make a point to stop here if I am in the area again.

This is one of the worst places I have ever been to. The lady at the front counter took over thirty minutes to get me my food. Both times I was there. They don’t even start preparing your pre-ordered food until you arrive. The lady at the counter is one of the rudest nastiest people I have ever met in my life. She was actually yelling at a customer angrily when I was in there. The customer walked out upset because she was so rude, then she chased them outside yelling at them more, saying I guess you don’t want your food then, yelling loudly at them. Horrible place with a horrible woman at the counter. Definitely not good or decent people who work here. Rude, nasty, and slow. Upsetting experience to go to this place. HorribleI posted this under a different name. The woman was so horrible I don’t want her knowing who I am or finding out where I live. Going here was a very bad experience.The food was okay I guess but not that great for what they charge

Recommended!! ?. We've enjoyed Smokey D's smoked turkeys forThanksgiving the last 2 years. This past Christmas we chose an amazing ham! I recently tried Smokey D's Pork steaks. Thick, tender, and delicious, just like every other item we've enjoyed from here. A real hidden gem!

Stopped in after a recommendation from a co-worker. I had the burnt ends and jalapeno and cheddar sausage. Both were good, as well the Bloody Mary. Price was also very reasonable. Only complaint is that the burnt ends weren't crispy, and the flavoring resembled breading that did not get cooked the best (soft and mushy). Minor complaint, and would still recommend.

First thing you notice coming in - parking lot is packed, inside is packed. Next thing you notice is all the awards lining the walls for best BBQ around. After trying what they have to offer, I have to concur that it checks out. Meats were done perfectly, and the BBQ nachos are a unique and amazing oddity.

Im rating this place a 3 because they are passing off Swai off as Catfish.Although Swai is in the catfish family - it is NOT the catfish that most of us eat. Some people eat Swai (to each its own). Swai fish is more gummy and mushy in texture than catfish. Catfish fries up more crispier than Swai and catfish has a better taste in my opiniom. Me personally, I'm not a Swai fan.If you want some REAL GOOD TASTY catfish....check out D'Squared. The catfish strips are one of their most popular items and you definitely will know you're eating catfish...
