Went here for lunch, I had the taco soup, it was ok good flavor but had lima beans in it wasn't a fan of those and they went ahead and place the tortilla chips in my soup before they served it and the chips were starting to get soggy, my husband had the BLT and he said it was good.

Great little restaurant close to a lot of outdoor activities in the Shawnee National Forest. We had a group of 16 and our waitress worked very hard to serve us.
Perfect spot to eat after a long hike at Bell Springs. Wyatt was friendly and efficient, he took great care of is!

This place was a nice hidden gem on our anniversary vacation in southern IL. Stayed at an airbnb nearby and this was one of the few options. Had the best fried catfish of my life and had a great menu overall. Their pork sandwich was amazing too. Best simple dessert menu too. Stop in if your visiting for sure!

This place definitely deserves 5 star ratings! The food was delicious and plenty of it. We have wanted to come here just from seeing it on Southern Illinois Eats. It did not disappoint!!! Will want to come back! We were out and about looking at the fall colors and they had the prettiest tree we'd seen all day!

We ate here on Saturday night. We had a party of 15, the food was good and fresh. The service was top notch! We had Veronica as a waitress, we sat outside because the size of our and inside was pretty full. Veronica had tables inside as well as ours outside. Never had a glass run dry and she was very accommodating to all of our needs while we were dining! Great place to eat with friendly staff!
We had a really bad experience with Veronica. Everyone was very nice with the exception of Veronica. My sister and I came in yesterday evening. It wasn’t busy at all so we sat at the bar and in a few minutes Veronica tossed 2 menus on the counter toward us and walked away. Actually we were wondering if this was a close knit community and we weren’t welcome. She did not ask if we wanted a drink. A couple more people came in, sat at the bar and she went right to them and asked them if they wanted a drink. They had drinks and their order placed before she even asked if we wanted to order. Veronica went away somewhere. After about 15 minutes I went over to a young woman by the cash register and asked if she could get someone to wait on us. She went to Veronica and nicely told her we were waiting. I felt so sorry for the young woman. Veronica snapped at her, poor thing. In a couple minutes Veronica walked over to us and we ordered to go but she still did not ask us if we wanted a drink. We then waited 30-40 minutes and no food. Another customer came in and sat at the bar for 5 or 10 minutes. Then another lady in a plaid jacket was very nice, and asked the lady sitting at the bar if she could help her and she told her she had a to go order. The plaid jacket lady asked us if we had been helped. I told her we were waiting for our to go order. The plaid jacket lady came back with the other to go order and checked her out. A few minutes later Veronica came out with our order. We assumed the plaid jacket lady had said something to Veronica, which we appreciated. The food was cold. It had been sitting in the back for a good amount of time. Honestly, we were not coming back today. We really thought this was not a friendly community. However, tonight we sat in a booth and were greeted quickly with a smile, gave our food and drink order and had the food quickly. We felt welcome and the food was fresh and very good. Management ought to watch Veronica’s work closely and give her customer service training, and if she doesn’t want to do it, let her go.

We went 2x. The first night we stopped in for a 2 go order. There was some blonde named Veronica that basically threw 2 menus at us after we sat down at the bar, then she turned around and walked away. Didn't ask if we wanted a drink or anything, really. Seems we were bothering her. Then we sat there for 20 minutes at the bar watching Veronica serve people that just walked in. My sister finally got up and went and asked the hostess to get someone to please take our order. The hostess, a young girl, was very sweet and went to tell Veronica we needed to order. Veronica snapped at her in front of the customers and the girl was visibly shocked. Veronica then came over after a minute, taking her time, and took our order, never looking at either of us. She put the order in and it took about 30 to 40 minutes to get it, it was cold, and I believe it had been sitting back there awhile. She gave us the food, without looking at us, and pretty much turned her back to us. We weren't going to come back but it's close to where we are staying so thought we'd come in and have a seat in the dining room vs the bar area. Night and day difference. The servers were very nice, attentive, and our food came quickly. I'm glad we decided to give it another try. I had read the reviews and they were positive, so expected a much more pleasant experience than I had the first visit. I'd recommend this place to others as long as Veronica has either been trained for customer service or if she wasnt there.
