We were really looking forward to trying 1933 House of Bourbon, as we go out to local establishments every week and this one had been on our list since it opened. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing from the start. We went on a Monday night without a reservation and were surprised when the hostess told us walk-ins had to sit at the bar or high tops—even though there were only about 10 tables full. I requested a lower table due to a back issue, and she made it feel like a huge inconvenience, bringing in someone else to “approve” it. Our drinks were good and our server was kind, though some service moments were awkward. For example, part of my husband’s meal (wings) came out as an appetizer instead of with his entrée. The waitress just said, “That wasn’t supposed to come out yet,” made a face, and walked away. No correction, no fresh order of wings with his fries later. When our food came, things only got worse. No steak knife was brought, and no one came by to check on us for quite some time. I ordered the ribeye, which turned out to be mostly fat with very little edible meat. The seasoning and char were delicious, but the cut was extremely poor quality. I had maybe a quarter of an actual steak. When I finally shared my disappointment with the server, she was nice but said all she could do was show the chef. Then the owner came out, and the tone completely shifted. Instead of listening, she was instantly defensive, telling me, “Well, ribeye is a fatty cut,” in a tone that felt condescending. When I asked if she’d eat the steak I was served, she replied, “I don’t eat meat,” but insisted it was “high quality.” There was no sense of accountability, and her entire demeanor was combative rather than solution-oriented. By the time she asked what she could do, it felt like she assumed we were trying to get free food, which couldn’t have been further from the truth. I was simply disappointed and wanted to be heard and treated with care. If someone had checked in earlier, I probably would’ve switched to the filet or tried something else. Instead, I left frustrated and still hungry. We ended the night at Mio Osteria for dessert and a drink, where the guest experience was immediately warmer and more professional. If you’re looking for an excellent steak and true hospitality, I recommend Moussalli’s—night and day difference. For the price point, 1933 House of Bourbon does not deliver. It may look like fine dining on the surface, but the experience felt more like Walmart at Nordstrom cost. We won’t be returning.
The food excellent as well as the service. Great place for a business meeting
Overall poor experience. Went to celebrate a milestone birthday with family and figured we would give this place a shot. We had poor service and expensive mediocre food. Steaks were tough and overcooked. When reservations were made, we informed them it was for a birthday celebration. We brought a birthday cake and had a surprise $25 fee added to the bill. With all of the fine dining options in the Edwardsville/STL area, your money is better spent somewhere else.
My husband & I went there for the first time to celebrate our 37th anniversary, the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a wonderful experience! The bartenders were very friendly, knowledgeable and made great recommendations! Our steak dinner was outstanding, super flavorful, tender and juicy, oh and huge, we both had generous leftovers! We got to meet one of the owners, Bernard, he was awesome. He spent a lot of time with us, sharing his knowledge of whiskeys and food! I highly recommend this place, we will definitely be going back!
Wonderful service.. and unique dishes.
We celebrated our son’s graduation here with a NICE dinner! The owners are wonderful people. We had a nice private room . Our waitress was awesome, and the food, and drinks were FANTASTIC!! Highly recommend!!
Last night my daughter and her three teen-age children were at “1933 House”. All four of them said the service was great and the food was perfectly prepared. Getting three teenagers to have the same positive reactions on the same day, at the same time about the same topic speaks for itself. Their mom’s report was equally strong. Due to a conflict, “Grandma and Grandpa” couldn’t make it, but we’re not a bit surprised. Bernard and his assiciates know how to make every guest feel special.

I’ve been several times now and have not been let down. The service was great and the atmosphere was good. Ribeye or fillet for dinner does not disappoint. The shrimp po boy keeps me coming back to this spot for lunch over and over again. Best I’ve had.

This is a great and unexpected find. The selection of bourbons is incredible and the food was very good. But what inspired me to review this restaurant is the staff. Everyone was kind, engaged, knowledgeable, quick with excellent recommendations. Everyone there took real ownership in delivering an excellent experience. And then we got to speak with the owner who was approachable and fun to speak with. Highly recommend this place.

Always come here for the steak and atmosphere. Tonight I switched it up and tried the Chicken Manchurian. It was absolutely amazing! It left me with only one thought from here forward, I have to try the rest of the menu! Also found out that there’s a parking garage around back when the front spots are full!

Amazing! I wasn’t expecting to have one of the best steaks of my life but that’s what happened. I had the Spice rubbed Ribeye and my wife had the pan seared Salmon. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I wish I had taken a picture. I would recommend this establishment everyday and twice in Sunday. Worth every penny.

This was an amazing night. We went here for our 25th wedding anniversary. I got the cowboy steak and my wife got the ribeye. We got mashed potatoes, baby potatoes, and mac n cheese. We also got the creme bruelee and lava cake for dessert. Everything was AMAZING!
We met one of the owners, Bernard, who checked in on us to make sure the experience was amazing. He talked with us and made is feel appreciated. Now it was a slow period for them, but he was super genuine. He wanted to make sure our experience was awesome. The executive chef, Pandy (hopefully I spelled that corectly) came out and checked on us. He indulged my questions about the steaks and how he cooked them. He was sincere in his questions and answers. Our server Amie was AMAZING! Not only was she knowledgeable about the food and drink menus, she was personable and super friendly. She made our night special! Thank you to everyone for making an amazing night! We will be back to try other items!

Food was good. Wings were tiny for the price but taste and doneness was very good. Steak was great. Pasta was excellent. Not big on the truffle fries.
