We were traveling through at breakfast and have had good food at other Cracker Barrel’s and were glad to see that there was one in Effingham, Illinois. But my sausage gravy had a taste as if it was not fresh. Cold butter couldn’t melt on my biscuits because they were not hot. My son’s chicken was not cooked well and he just didn’t care for the “French toast “. He wasn’t aware that the fries are steak fries. The menu picture was different. I had 2 eggs that were excellent and the grits were good, but not hot. I have family who work in the food service business and know it can be difficult to please everyone, but this was not a good experience. Our waitress, Annabelle, was excellent. When I complained, she stayed sweet. I really don’t like to complain, but for $46. I would like to be able to eat my food. 🥹.

Hadn’t been to Cracker Barrel in a long time and stopped for breakfast on a road trip. I wasn’t expecting a gourmet meal but what I was served was far below what even any chain restaurant should serve. The bacon was limp and cold, the hash brown casserole was cold and the onions in it weren’t cooked enough creating an awful texture/flavor experience. Both things had clearly been made ahead of time and sat there before being served. The scrambled eggs also seemed to have been precooked on a baking sheet or something and sliced into a rectangle and served reheated. The pancakes were fine but one of them still had raw batter in the middle. The server was nice and the food came out quickly (obviously because nothing had been made fresh). Overall a disgusting eating experience and that’s probably the last time I set foot in a Cracker Barrel.

I’ve always been a big fan of Cracker Barrel but today was a little disappointing. The portions on the Country Boy Breakfast have shrunk so much. I feel for $15.49 you could be getting more value for your money.

Hamburger was red in the middle, order was not right the first time. Quality has gone down so much in the last few years It’s sad. Our server was great.

Food has been declining for several months. This week the bacon was under cooked and the rest of the meal lacked flavor. Waitress was very scattered and could not remember the items we asked for.

Took 45 mins to get our food. The food was not the best. We go to the Marion one often and have not had food like this and never have had to wait that long.

Don’t ever order a double cheeseburger at cracker Barrel. It $12.00 and $10.99 for the second paddy! Sorry but $22.99 for a burger is ridiculous.

A double cheeseburger at McDonald’s only $18

The fried cod was so good, the waitress did her best, the atmosphere was the same as all cracker barrels.

The food was good. The service was slow! I had my sister and her kid and myself and my kid. So 2 kids who are toddlers plus 2 adults. We were forced to sit and wait 20-30 minutes on our check! I ordered the kids food then adults food and said I want to go meals plus dessert so there wasn't a delay on my check as toddlers do not like to wait. Well even though I ordered in advance I still didn't get check. We was done my kid was crying ready to go and we couldn't get the check she had to just cry as i waited on the check. I asked the server for it in passing she said she was slammed and had to get drinks and put orders in for people and then she would get it and it would be a little bit and she was sorry. Well after we got the check we left, the manger up front was cashing people out and I said the service and server was slow they said sorry about that and she didn't bother to ask why. That's the service these days. I will not come back and dine in with my daughter at this cracker barrel again.

Food is hit and miss at cracker barrel anymore. Used to be it was always good. Now the quality is just not there all the time. Cold meatloaf. Flour balls for dumplings. Watery sweet tea. I mean, those should be staples of a country restaurant that are prepared correctly Everytime, not every other time.

I had the home style chicken for lunch today. It was at noon. Not busy at all. 2 boneless chicken breasts, potatoes and gravy and broccoli and biscuits. The chicken breasts were very, very dry and difficult to eat. Seemed to have been sitting under a heat lamp or something for way too long. I had the white gravy on my mashed potatoes and there was only a tiny bit of gravy. At first I wasn't sure if there was any gravy at all. The biscuits were hard and dry. Broccoli was the only thing that was good. My partner had the pot roast and he enjoyed it but he said that the cornbread was not edible. He usually eats several pieces of cornbread and he didn't even finish the 1 piece he tried. Very disappointing for the price we paid.

It took over 30 minutes to get our food. It was not busy. The bacon wasn't done and the food was cold. Never seen the waitress except for once and we were ready to go. This is the second time in past month and a half it has been so slow with the food, not busy and the food is cold. I won't go back to this cracker barrel as both times it has not been good. Only see the waitress once and can't get refills. As much money as it costs to go out and especially a sit down restaurant, you should see your waitress more than the one time to get your order and when you are ready to go.
