“No issues with wait time. The food was pretty decent. My husband wasn’t a fan of the burger. He said the burger didn’t taste like 100% beef. The waffles were delicious. I love sweets, but the caramel on top was too much for me. The server never smiled. She overfilled my drink and it spilled over on to the table, but she didn’t apologize, didn’t offer to clean it up, and didn’t bring loose napkins until our food came.
Once we had our food, she only checked on us once. My husband ran out of drink and had to drink mine. The worst part of the visit was our waitress and the cook bickering back and forth several times. They were bickering about what did and didn’t come on/with meals, about the waitress thinking the cook was having a bad day, about the cook not having a bad day and that the waitress was just “attaching emotions to his questions and the way his face looked.”“

“The most delicious bacon for 40mile radius at least. This is a find for us and a jewel for the local community. My wife had the pancakes (also with bacon, because everything has to have meat in on or on the side of it)...and i had the breakfast (that they serve all day - 2 eggs with bacon, toast and hash browns). perfectly done hash browns, eggs cooked over medium and then i tried the bacon and the grey wet day outside, clouds opened up, choirs sang and i was having an existential experience. Totally awesome. We left content, with happy tummies and didn't even care that it was raining outside. The lovely hostess was super attentive, and engaging and the place is spotless. if anyone is lucky enough to be stopping off in Effingham then take the time to drive a few more miles for a treat and support these gems. More of these places please...well done Emma's Diner!!“
