This is the stop you need when you're on a long road trip and can't take anymore fast food. This quaint shop, packed full of antiques and curiosities, has some of the best, handmade soups and sandwiches. The tomato basil soup was delicious! And the staff are the friendliest you'll find. We try to make this our lunch stop when traveling between St. Louis and Chicago.

Wild Hare Cafe is truly a hidden gem! We had the stuffed pepper soup, quiche, salads and coconut cream pie. All wonderful! The owners and staff were so attentive and friendly. A great stop not far from the interstate and along Route 66 for a homemade meal and prices were very reasonable. We will definitely return!

The previous reviews really are accurate. This is a gem, a unique cafe within The Horsefeathers Antique shop. Whimsical first rate paintings adorn the walls, beautiful wood glowing, candles.

The food is good, the prices are accommodating. The service is good, and Pete and Andrea are always around for a quick check on their customers.

Vegetarian options: Salads, quiche, and an excellent array of salads and soups

Wheelchair accessibility: Two ground level doors, large entryway.

No phone number to call. Hours of business not posted on google. Total waste of time and money.

We just love this place. It is a central meeting place for my grown kids and I, since we live in different parts of Ilinois. There is so much to see, antiques and more modern details. The food is excellent! Great menu to suit everyone. Each dessert is topped with a little rabbit-shaped sugar cookie!

Riding Route 66, I stopped in here to fuel up my body. So glad I did! What an eclectic mix of intrigue and fantastic food! Possibly my best meal on the entire ride.

What an amazing gem of a place! The eclectic, beautiful decor, hand painted murals, antiques, and such delicious food all make this well worth the trip. We met Pierre, a fascinating Dutch gentleman who has had an amazing international life, and he is the owner and chef (and I heard his wife painted the walls - beautiful!). The building is an old bank and two of the tables are set up in the old vaults. His staff are incredibly kind and friendly; Liz took especially good care of us! We had the turkey melt with cranberry sauce, BLT, cream of tomato basil and chicken noodle soups, pasta salad, chocolate cherry cake, and coconut cream pie and it was all delicious. Highly recommend!

Kid-friendliness: The staff are very kind to children but there are a lot of fragile items for sale within the restaurant area.

Beautiful place to take a lunch break. You enter what looks like a vintage and used shop and find yourself in a place that has something magical. The tables are delightfully set in the various rooms and each one is different from the other. A particularly welcoming environment. The food is delicious and the products are all genuine and local. The owner is a kind and thoughtful gentleman who entertains with his stories of life and the place. I hope to be able to return, but those of you who are in the area take a detour if necessary because it's really worth it ???

Vegetarian options: Possibility of excellent vegetarian dishes
