My wife and I found this little gem while attending the Elmwood Strawberry Festival. Service was fast and our orders came to us very quickly. I am now diabetic so I passed on the rice that normally came with the steak and shrimp. The steak was a simple cut of beef done medium well. The shrimp were tender and not over cooked as they so easily can be. The star of my meal was the side of refried beans. Not just cooked and mashed beans and definitely not from a #10 can. They were house made, flavorful, seasoned properly, and thicker than restaurant beans tend to be. I appreciate this much attention paid to a side dish that is usually considered an afterthought. My wife's taco salad (not the fiesta taco salad) was very good. If we are anywhere near Elmwood again we will go out of our way to visit Mi Ranchito again.
