The food and service us not as good as it used to be. When ordering pork chops, I was expecting bone-in pork chops, not butterfly pork chops. Those I can buy at the grocery store.

We have been coming here for years! We used to love it. The NEW owner (Elba) has raised the prices and lowered the quality of the food. My husband ordered the prime rib. It was terrible! All fat and grizzle. No thanks, not at that price point. The onion soup tasted watered down, too. Not the same as it used to be. Too bad, this used to be a favorite place for a supper club feel. We will be forced to go elsewhere. If you want a good prime rib at decent price, go to Texas Road House!

Great service , good food albeit limited selection - I guess the philosophy is focus on less items but make them high quality. Food isn’t cheap but it will last you at least 2 meals. It’s like a place out of time in some ways - charming , seems to cater a bit upscale, it’s like an ethnic white restaurant (like you know you can have Chinese or Japanese etc etc) - this place gives one a shot at a mix of European food - and I don’t means burgers/ pizza /insert chain crap of choice. It’s the kind of place you can eat stroganoff and go ‘so this is how someone’s grandma made this dish …’. Good little find.
We visited Elba's because it was recommended on places like Reddit and locals, saying good things about the steak and French onion soup. Four friends all trying something different, and we all agree that the French onion soup is absolutely delicious. Very flavorful, and the cheese was good quality.
However, the steaks were SEVERELY disappointing. I had the sirloin, and it was pretty standard for sirloin but underseasoned (fixed with sauce.) Wife had the strip steak and it was tender but, again, underseasoned. Friend 1 had the steak burger and it was overcooked and dry, returned and received better but was still greatly underseasoned. Friend 2 ordered the surf and turf (filet mignon and lobster) and it was so underseasoned and badly cooked that she only had two bites. $120 for 2 bites of steak and some vegetables.
On the filet, it was burned on the crust and had zero seasoning, not even a hint of salt or pepper. The lobster was decent, nice flavor but that's the only saving grace. But the price was outrageous. We understood it was a local family-style restaurant, and the dinner option (comes with soup, salad, and potato) was fairly decent, but the quality and taste of the steak did not live up to the recommendation we received for the place.
We really wanted to enjoy the place, I personally love local eats like this; but I cannot in good conscience give this place any higher than a 2 for overall rating. The only reason its a 2 and not a 1 is because of the French onion soup, which was admittedly one of the best I've tasted throughout the US and Canada. And the service was impeccable and very charming. Just, the steak, we can't get over how overpriced, underseasoned, sloppy, and not-worth-the-digestion it was. Do not recommend, go to a chain restaurant and get some semblance of quality and seasoning, all for a cheaper price.

Elba’s Golden Steer offers a classic steakhouse experience with a few highs and lows. The French onion soup was delicious—rich and flavorful, though a touch on the salty side. The steaks, however, were absolutely cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and exactly as ordered. The atmosphere leans toward the old-school side; it’s a bit dark and dated, but that seems to be part of its charm and intended ambiance. Unfortunately, the shrimp fell short, coming out overcooked with a batter that didn’t quite hit the mark. Overall, a solid dining experience, especially for steak lovers, with a few areas that could use improvement.
