2nd visit. We like the atmosphere, but entrance leaves you to wonder if anyone knew about midwest winters. The curtain is a nice attempt, but they should consider heavy felt to cut down on wind and cold infiltration. Yes, it was cold when we arrived, and even sitting halfway back, you knew when the door opened.
Drinks were good, particularly the maple old fashioned. Found the lychee martini lacking in lychee fruit and taste, but I would prefer that to artificial flavor. There was too much lemon for my taste, though if you are going to make it one off, at least the lemon tasted fresh. Btw, lychee does not have a standard pronunciation, and I didn’t come here to be corrected, rather dismissively, I might add.
The gyoza (yes, thank you again for the pronunciation correction) are tasty, fresh and natural ingredients, cooked beautifully. The sashimi was good, though disappointed that a piece of tuna with sinew was served as sashimi, rather than ground for, say, spicy tuna.
We ordered Japchae (asked for pronunciation and server shrugged, saying it had many pronunciations. Well ok then.) Orange chicken and (vegetable) fried rice. All were prepared thoughtfully with fresh ingredients, served hot. The rice noodle dish, which we requested without garlic in the soy, was perfection. The Orange chicken was tender, hot and cook to a T. The coating was excellent. Unfortunately the Orange part fell way short for me. Nothing really tasted orange, served on greens, so no extra sauce, imho, a staple and must. Worse, all I could taste in the sauce was garlic, in my experience, an odd addition. A manager noted that we had eaten little of it, but didn’t investigate further, though, I’ll take responsibility for that. The fried rice was fresh, made of good quality ingredients and served hot was very good, but not great. Why I can’t put my finger on it.
Very surprised by several reviews characterizing the place as quiet: perhaps if you are one of the tables yelling at each other, a lull may seem quiet. It appears that management has taken active mitigation steps, so this isn’t on them.
Also shocked to see a reviewer chastised by management for not posting the review where they would prefer. Hey, your chef takes pains in their work, writing a meaningful review is a task also.

Very chic. The cherry blossoms, lighting, & waving kitties transport you to a new world. We got the Kpop Fries & it exceeded expectations, 10/10! The Mt Fuji Roll & the Ravu Roll were good, perfectly balanced bites. The bulgogi beef was great as well, though was outshined by the kpop loaded fries. We had the japanese donuts & matcha condensed milk for dessert. Fantastic meal! Happy with everything! I also got the Real Housewives of Frankfort drink & it was sooo good! This place is perfect for date night, I would not bring small toddlers here, more of an adult place and for these with more cultivated palates.

Senso has such a fun atmosphere, delicious food, and wonderful service. My kids loved their bento boxes, and the vegetarian sushi is the best I’ve had. I’ll definitely be going back!

This is such a late review but my man took me here for my birthday last month and I loved it. We went at night and it just seemed more intimate with the dimmed lighting. Our waitress was a sweetheart and we loved everything we ordered. Will definitely be coming back

City style restaurant in the heart of the suburbs! Came with a party of 6 today to celebrate 3 birthdays and it did not disappoint. Some drinks we had were the Lychee martini, Smokey old fashioned (with macallen), and the no money no problem margarita (with don Julio 1942). Drinks were made with top notch alcohols and were not only tasty but so well presented. The lychee martini had tiny flowers in it, the old fashion came in a smoker, and the margarita had a mini bottle of 1942 in it we were all obsessing over at the table! The appetizers were great (we had bang bang shrimp and the crispy rice flights with the tuna being our favorite). We had six different sushi rolls and they were all phenomenal with the Chicago fire being our favorite! The donuts with the sauce were out of this world! I can’t remember our servers name, but I believe it was Nathan? His service was outstanding! Very attentive, got all of our orders right, no problems at all. The interior design is also lovely with the trees and cats on the walls. What an awesome place!
