An elevated dining experience. Our food was fantastic, the service was excellent, just a wonderful evening.
We walked away from our dining experience at Edge completely blown away. This was truly the best dining experience we've ever had. The food was amazing and the service was as well. We ordered the lobster arancini, the burrata, the elk chops entree, and the pistachio stone fruit dessert, all of which was delicious. Even the butter that comes with the bread is out of this world. Our waitress never made us feel rushed, and we found the timing between her checking in perfect. As soon as she arrived with our bottle of wine, she gave me a wine charm for my wine glass that she handmade. It was a very nice personal touch. Outside of the food and service, the ambience was excellent. The views overlooking the Mississippi River wetlands and horse training facility were the perfect place to sip on a cocktail and watch the sunset. The owner/manager was friendly and attentive, checking in with each table and taking the time to chit chat about our experience. He spent the entire evening in the dining room ensuring everyone was enjoying their time. We're already planning our next date night back at Edge!
We stayed at the Goldmoor for two nights and had a lovely dinner there the second night. They just came out with their new seasonal menu and the food was fresh and so delicious! When we travel back to Galena we will stay and dine at the Goldmoor Inn.
Food was excellent, better than I expected. Great views. Accommodating and very friendly staff
Absolutely outstanding experience. This place is a true gem—every dish is presented like a work of art. The attention to detail is remarkable, both in the food and the overall ambiance. They have a vegetarian menu, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a flawless dining experience. Service is top-notch from start to finish.
Excellent food in a beautiful setting . I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent meal.
Very welcoming staff, beautiful window table with gorgeous views, delicious meals & refreshing desserts. We will go back!
Wonderful experience. Outstanding dinner and service from a very friendly staff who could not have been nicer. Well worth the drive.
Food was amazing. Beet salad, Hokkaido scallops, truffle gnocchi and beef Wellington. All my husband and I could say each bite was WOW! Denise our server was wonderful bringing out each course one by one with a smile. Will definitely be back! I can’t imagine being in Galena and not making reservations every time.

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at Edge Restaurant at the Goldmoor Inn, and it was an exceptional experience. The panoramic views from the dining area were breathtaking, creating a perfect backdrop for the evening. Our server Jocelyn was very attentive and personable, ensuring that every detail was taken care of with grace. The owner greeted us warmly, adding a personal touch that made the celebration even more special. Also , we were able to see a beautiful sunset. Overall, Edge provided a memorable dining experience that I'll cherish for years to come. Definitely will be back to try their Fall menu!

What an amazing experience. The staff from the hostess, waitress, and owner were all super kind. The food was fantastic! The chef did a fabulous job with making the fall menu. The only reason I give the service a 4 star is because we waited about 20 to 30 minutes at the end for our check. Not sure what happened there. We would for sure return!

Oh my gosh! I can't say enough about this place. The food was absolutely phenomenal! I had the duck and my husband had the beef Wellington and we were both overwhelmed. The view at sunset is stunning and the staff is super friendly. It's only a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Galena and it's definitely worth it! If you're looking for an intimate setting with great service and food, this is the place to go.

A late dinner including the Bison ribeye and the Beef Wellington. Excellent service with well timed courses and preparation as requested. Quiet atmosphere with friendly, personable staff. This was our fifth visit overall and each has been enjoyable.

Let's start with the positives. The food is PERFECT. The chef and his team are absolutely incredible. A wellington is a difficult dish to get right, especially when you're serving dozens of them on any given night. I had assumed, in the interest of the kitchen, that they wouldn't bother to ask for a temperature on the wellington and simply serve it the way it should be served, somewhere between medium rare and medium. But they did ask. I told them medium and when I cut into the wellington, it was a spot-on perfect. That alone warrants high praise, but the wellington was also served with a medley of vegetables and a wonderful sauce dotted around the plate that added an incredible brightness and offset the rich meatiness of the wellington. All the food we had struck that same balance, proving there's an expert understanding of ingredients and mastery of technique on show here.
The problem was the front of house. We arrived about five minutes early for our reservation and were told it would be a moment as tables finished up before we were seated. No problem. We were guided to a lounge area and sat there for 35 minutes waiting. Here's a recap of that time: We had been told someone would come to take our drink order. She came after about ten minutes, realized we didn't have a menu and left to grab one. Fifteen minutes later she came back and asked if we were ready to order. We reminded her we didn't get a menu and she left again. Another five minutes. We finally got the menu shortly before we were seated. A sidenote here. About fifteen minutes after we got to the lounge, a couple left their table. It took them the remaining 20 minutes to go clear the table, reset it, and seat us. I live in Chicago, so I am undoubtedly biased and accustomed to restaurants turning tables in seconds out of necessity, but 20 minutes is just way too long. After we finally got seated, the same woman who had forgot about our drinks stopped by and announced she'd be our waitress. I was not happy at this development. She assured us that now we "had her undivided attention", seemingly because her tip was now on the line. She was okay after that, although she did neglect to tell us the specials for the day, something we discovered after another table got served a soup we were never offered and that wasn't on the menu. The hostess also came back to ask for the name on the reservation. Not sure why that happened. Maybe to confirm that they were indeed over a half hour late in seating us? I thought it may have been to comp our drinks for the wait, but no such luck. All in all, service was a bit of a nightmare.
This place will test the limits of the phrase "worth the wait", but I can't say it's not worth the wait. Granted, for the price and the caliber of experience you'd expect, you shouldn't have to wait, but if you do, at least rest assured the food will make you lean back in your chair with a contented sigh, having savored the best meal you've had or will have in a long time. My sincerest thanks and gratitude to the back of the house for a wonderful dinner.
