Well, here I go. I usually don’t post reviews unless they are positive, I’m breaking that rule tonight.
Just left the Log Cabin Steakhouse and could not be any less impressed with the food. Two of us dined there and the place was not crowded nor swamped as it appeared to have plenty of staff. Our waiter Adam was delightful, prompt, and attentive without being overbearing. Well done!
Ordered apps, ribeye, surf and turf, and wedge salad.
The overall theme was lack of flavor..
onion rings were absolutely flavorless.. amazingly couldn’t taste the onion or any hint of spice in the breading. It would take a master class level chef to create such good looking onion rings and be able to eliminate any flavor. Seriously amazingly bland.
My medium rare Ribeye had appealing looks and was served almost floating in what was probably intended to be an au jus but lacked any flavor.. nada.. nilch.. none. The steak was tough, had to saw thru it with a knife that while serrated lacked any actual cutting ability. Ate 1/3rd and surrendered, texture was firm but felt like boiled meat, effort to eat wasn’t worth the taste.
The surf and turf was a petite filet and 4 broiled shrimp. Wife ate 2 shrimp and 1/4 of her filet and was underwhelmed by the lack of flavor.
For those keeping score that is roughly 30% of the entries consumed and zero enjoyment.
The wedge salad was 1/2 a head of iceberg lettuce, a tomato and some bacon that was fatty and undercooked. The blue cheese dressing was bland, tasted like sour cream and had small flavorless blu cheese chunks that had the taste profile of tofu.
We initially had the leftovers packaged to take home and decided that they were not worth taking home so we surrendered them and left them sitting at the table when we left. Considered taking them and giving to any homeless and less fortunate person, but decided that they didn’t do anything to deserve that mistreatment.
Spent 300.00 including decent tip on dinner, drinks, and desserts, overall was not satisfied by quality of food. The abysmal lack of flavor literally ruined the meal, one of the very few times I was glad I didn’t have to clear my plate.

Great spot for dinner. On non-busy days, we usually eat at the bar. Great atmosphere and staff.

Such a wonderful place. Great meal, great service. Serving sizes for a king. Lamb shanks were outta this world! The bar is so quaint, hear to have a drink while you wait for everyone to get there for your reservation or just having one solo. The only tiny thing I didn't like was the Brandy Alexander and the Grasshopper we ordered for dessert, they weren't blended :-( it was just a couple scoops of ice cream with the liqueur just drizzle on top, it was messy to stir together and too much to deal with at the end of such a great night. I just wanted a smooth supper club, ice cream drink.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. We have had so many family celebrations here and it never disappoints. Service is spot on and the steaks are cooked to perfection.

Recommended dishes: Filet Mignon and Shrimp
This is a must-try place. We happened in on a night they had a prime rib special and it was melt in your mouth tender and we'll seasoned. It was served with asparagus that was cooked perfectly. Also recommend the New York strip, the Greek fries, and the house vinaigrette. Our server was great, friendly, attentive but not annoying. And the old world supperclub vibe is great. We would definitely go back.

This place is old school and great! Saganaki is great, not awesome. Steaks are awesome. My daughter loved the filet and my wife loved the Grecian style filet! My prime rib was awesome, but I would get a filet or bone in ribeye next time.

My wife and I came to Galena to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. For our Saturday night dinner, we decided to go to Log Cabin, hoping to celebrate the occasion properly. When I called to make our reservation, I let the staff know we were coming in for our 10-year anniversary. When we arrived, I also mentioned it to the host (the bald gentleman with glasses). He responded with, “Well, your wife is right behind you—there goes the surprise,” as if she wouldn’t know it was our anniversary. At no point during the evening did anyone acknowledge our celebration or even say “Happy anniversary.” I even asked our waiter, Pat M., whether anyone had told him we were celebrating anything. He said no—that no one had informed him we were there for our anniversary. We didn’t come expecting free food, dessert, or anything special. But not acknowledging our anniversary at all—especially after we mentioned it twice—was frustrating. Every other place we’ve celebrated at has at least offered a simple “Happy anniversary,” if not a dessert, flowers on the table, or a personalized menu. Log Cabin truly dropped the ball, and I believe the host is largely to blame.

Amazing food in a cozy atmosphere with top notch service. Don't skip the flaming saganaki appetizer! I ordered the Greek chicken and it was wonderful. Large portion, baked potato and salad. Bring your appetite. All the steaks and fish looked great as well. Highly recommend if you looking for a memorable dining experience while visiting Galena.
