The Wooden Nickel Pub and Grill

I won’t say I don’t recommend as we’ve been there a couple times before and had a great experience! Last night neither of us enjoyed what we ordered, our fault, we both went against what we were going to originally order….we ate it, it’s fine, you live and learn. Our waitress is what left a bad taste. It’s like she instantly had something in her head about us or we weren’t one of her regulars that she had to cater to as she was sitting, laughing and chatting with those around us. Not friendly, short answers and would set our drinks down after being told thank you and just walk away. The only time there was even a hint of friendliness is when it came time to pay.

Have been here many times and even considered using their space for our upcoming wedding reception. Saturday April 12th was the worst experience we've ever had in ANY bar or restaurant! The place was,moderately busy with many open tables( been their much busier with excellent service) . ordered and paid for drinks. waitress took order and 2 ice waters. more tables cleared out. had to ask for ice waters. watched tables being served and leaving..asked waitress for appetizer..."is been 28 minutes it's on its way ". 8 minutes later another staff set down appetizer and 2 sandwiches. IN THE MOST PATIENT,KINDESS MANNER USING PLEASE we asked for 2 sandwiches to be brought out properly...not cold after we eat 36 minute appetizer. she said it's kitchens fault they are overworked and not her fault. she took sandwiches,wings and left. seconds later( quicker then we've seen her all night) waitress said " you've upset my server. kitchen is overworked. I didn't want to bring this all at once. I knew it was wrong but PLEASE DO NOT CUT MY TIP!!. 🤯 we said we will eat and pay for appetizer don't want cold food! seconds later male " manager" appeared and same one line....kitchen backed up," you've made 2 servers cry"...I was done. weve worked all week and spent 3 days in icu..if anyone was crying it should've been us! Horrible management! zero customer service! I did use one cuss word to the belligerent when he aporoached the table male manager and we were banned!😝🙅‍♀️. ...You're banned wooden nickle! ifu anyone was crying they need help! I've worked service industry 18 to 24 and later in life..they won't make it with .. .please and patience! btw..the nachos after 30 mns were COLD!

The waitress takes our drink order and leaves. a few minutes later, two ladies sit down at table next ours, the same waitress walked in with them. The waitress takes their drink order, immediately gets the drinks and then sits down and starts chatting with the two ladies. Waited a minute, she was still sitting and talking, we left.

Drove out of my way to try something new for a late lunch. Unfortunately, the waitress came to get an initial drink order and nothing else, not even a menu. I waited an hour until another waitress asked if I needed anything. I asked for the check. I wish I got to try the food, the reviews looked good and looked like a nice place. Just wish the waitress was more attentive instead of chatting and on her phone.

I’ve been to the Wooden Nickel a dozen times over the years. It’s usually packed and I can’t figure out why. This last visit was where I had to draw the line and finally leave a review. This place is the definition of basic and that’s being kind of generous.

I’m just going to list out the negatives:
Overcooked and tasteless macaroni, waterlogged marinara sauce for the burnt toasted ravs, lackluster Caesar salad with croutons you can chip a tooth on, bland fried fish. The atmosphere is just sad unless you love country music. The interior is so loud you can barely hear those sitting at your table.

The few positives about my experiences over the years: Fries are good, beers are reasonably priced, and landscaping is on point year round.

While this review may seem harsh it is truthful. I’m hoping that this review inspires the owners to address the restaurants downfalls.

Great food and cheerful servers. Will be coming back for sure.
