Very authentic German food. Great service and ample portions. I had the sausage plate and it comes with 4 different sausages. All were very good!

We have lost a bunch of German restaurants in the area recently so it was awesome to find this hidden gem. Great food love the atmosphere. The wurst platter and schnitzel are awesome, and the pretzel bread rolls are amazing!

The food is AMAZING & the folks who own it full of passion. It’s in a strip mall but that adds to the charm & the surprise that one will find the bestGerman food with American influences in the suburbs at this little gem! I go 20 minutes out of my way for schnitzel & cheesy spatzel once a week - it’s a plus they always greet w a smile in the typical German stoicism that grew up with but it’s the FOOD folks! You will not find better German in burbs

The servers are incredible. This is the best meal I have had in a very very very long time. The cordon blue schnitzel is out of this world.

Great authentic German food and great servie. We were lucky to have Mike take care of us and what a personable guy. We were made to feel like family, this was really one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Just an all around great experience. Cant wait to come back here.

Terrible service. I ordered and the waiter said "dang you must be hungry today!" Very sassy waiter and the food was not good- my friend didn't even last five minutes out the door and immediately pooped her pants in a walmart. Everyone is

Renate's has excellent German food and beer, by far the best in the Northwest suburbs! Ignore the fact that it's hidden in a strip mall, the service is top notch. Stop in or order takeout, you will not regret it.

Went here with my whole family of 6 to enjoy and introduce the kiddos to German food. The restaurant is small and at the time was only manned by the husband of the chef and the chef herself. Therefore, the service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry. To start, we tried the potato pancakes and the currywurst poutine fries. We all agree that the fries were the star of the night and we would come back in a heartbeat just for those. For dinner, we got an assortment of German faves-liver dumpling soup (delish), goulash (a little bland), Weiner schnitzel (not as crispy as we would like), and of course, spatzel. Pay extra for it!
