Charlie’s is fantastic! We came on our first day of our trip and were flabbergasted by the portion sizes. The Bloody Mary was a meal in itself. I’m not one to come to the same place twice on a trip but this place made me have a change of heart. 10/10!!!

We stumbled upon Charlie’s place this morning and have nothing but amazing things to say about them. We had 5 in our party (2adults and 3 kids - 3yrs and under). We tend to stray away
from dining out since our table can be fussy with all 3 kids - but Nia & Charlie were so attentive to our whole family. We were quickly seated and the staff was attentive to all our needs immediately. The food was served VERY quickly with huge portions. We were checked in on several times during our meal and each time, Nia - our waitress - told us to enjoy our food and not to worry about the kids being kids. She was so kind and in tune to our situation of stress going out to eat with 3 little ones. They served the best pancakes we’ve ever had. So thankful for our experience this morning. We will definitely be back - if they’ll have us ;)

We've been here a few times. Memorial day, my wife and I went to Charlie's Place for lunch. I had the steak sandwich and she had the Philly. The food was hot, steak was cooked properly, and there was a perfect crisp and salty taste with the fries. The food presentation was amazing. Lively atmosphere with the other consumers seemingly happy. Service was top notch, nice and attentive server. She did a wonderful job. *****

I am so glad that we ventured in here! The best breakfast in Galena! I had the Classic Benedict. You get so much food with your order that I dont think its possible to leave here hungry. Also, had side of bacon that was better than any restaurant I've had bacon at and Im from Iowa where bacon rules! We also had bloody Mary's (David you nailed it!) that were second to none. The best part though is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Charlie is such an amazing restaurant owner. You can see his passion for his guests as he greets and talks with each and every table no matter how busy they are. I have never felt more welcome at a restaurant. I actually felt like I was a guest in his home. Definitely when in Galena for breakfast, DO NOT pass up Charlie's Place. Thank you all.

Went to breakfast with the whole family on New Year's Day. The food was great!!! Even the kids cleared their plates. What impressed me even more was their service. They were completely packed, yet they made us feel like we were the only customers there. Big smiles and lots of attention. We will definitely go there again when in town!!!!!

Tried Charlie’s Place for lunch yesterday. Had heard good things but it was just ok.
We ordered the cheeseburger with chips and a side of cheese curds. The burger was tough and dry. I didn’t know hamburgers could be tough. My husband works in food service and he said he’s only seen this with frozen patties.
The cheese curds were very good and plentiful but the marinara was inadequate for the amount of curds.
This isn’t a bad place but it doesn’t rank up there with Otto’s or Durty Gurt’s when it comes to burgers.
Just had breakfast here and when I say just, I'm walking past Gobbies. Place is amazing. The food, the portions, the people, everything. I think breakfast at Charlie's while walking the river trail may be a new monthly event.
