Waited for an hour for our food after finishing soup and salad. Finally left. Waitress didn’t seem to care.

Normally, I would give 5 stars, but, on Valentine's day, my husband was very satisfied with his rack of lamb, but I was disappointed that I couldn't order what I usually order, so settled for prime rib. I couldn't finish it and took home half but I don't really like leftovers. What was most disappointing was the piano player was not there which is part of the reason we chose to go there for Valentine's Day. Plus, our server seemed to be in a big hurry.

Celebrated my Mother's 90th birthday here, we could not have felt more welcome!!! It had been years since we had been here. The servers and the hostess/bartender could not have been nicer. The food was EXCELLENT!! From the fabulous Relish tray to the main courses!!! I suggest ordering their specialties the ribs, pork chops dishes, duck were fabulous. The atmosphere is a little tired and could use updating, but that added to the character, bathrooms dated but very clean.

Wholesome, non-corporate, authentically-local, ol' fashioned supper club that has stood the test of time. We relished the chance to escape the placeless, bland Chicago suburbs and savor German meets American flavor in a warm and hospitable restaurant with the kind of charm what meets those who purpose to venture off the beaten path. Driving Route 14, you'd never suspect the cultural richness and culinary delight a few feet from the road. You're greeted with a veggie tray and fresh-baked dinner rolls with tasteful, candle-lit place settings. My dinning companion savored Friday fish fry, opting for almond crusted cod. We'd respectfully disagree with a reviewer who claimed the fish tastes like frozen Gorton's seafood from a grocery store. Savory clam chowder with clam in every spoonful. The German sausage plate tasted delicious, quality meat without nitrates and fillers like the meats in Europe. The dining room was packed on a frigid Friday evening in January so I'd recommend reservations. There is a coat room to the right when one walks in, wish I'd known, so one doesn't have to stack coats that take up space in close quarters. Five star service from Jeri who provided prompt and friendly service for a pleasant evening, she anticipated our needs. Atmosphere merits four stars for themed decor that actually means something in the context of American history, consistent with the name Heritage House, rather than modernist, meaningless decor of corporate spaces. I like that they don't stick bright screens and promotional offers in your face when you just want to enjoy being present in the moment. Distracting screens are delightfully absent from walls and tables. Atmosphere loses a star for dated restrooms, they're clean but show their age in a non-retrograde kinda way. Overall, a pleasant supper club experience that is vanishing amid impersonal corporate automation, we'd go back.

Food and drinks were good, however I ordered an end cut of prime rib and it was just ok, in my opinion was not roasted long enough and way too lean lacking that roasted fat that makes the end cut so delicious.

Terrible lobster, it was so salty that is all you could taste. The tables were so close you had to basically lean on people if you needed to get up and use restroom or when leaving.
Wrecked my New Years Eve.

We love this place...homemade delicious food...relish tray and cheese and crackers before each meal...always worth our drive. It could use a refresh as it is getting a bit old...esp. the bathroom. Not many places left that serve good meals...we go back again and again.

W e have been regulars since the late 1960's and have never had a bad experience. We love the atmosphere and the food, but we really love all the employees and the owner. Great, friendly people. Just a wonderful place to enjoy dinner.

I've been here twice and after the first visit, I knew I'd be back again and again! The food selection is outstanding, especially if you like German food. Their prices are reasonable for what they offer. You'll be entertained by live piano music and thwme wait staff are extremely customer service oriented. I ordered Chicken Oscar and lived it! Prime rib is outstanding. I can't wait to taste some of their other menu items! Oh, and reservations may be a good thing.

Gortons frozen fish is better than the Friday fish fry. Maybe other dishes are better; but avoid the air fried from frozen cod.
