Faye & Joe's Southern Bowl

The food was ok. It's a good sign when people frequent your restaurant, but it's a deadly thing when you have as many leaving because you are too slow at plating, taking payments, and seating/or to-go meals. Today we decided to try them again. They close at 7pm, we got there before 5pm and they were closed for the day ??? Sorry ?

it’s overrated! i had the mac and cheese, stringbeans and meat loaf, the food ain’t got no seasoning, taste like out of a can stringbeans.. the mac is real cheesy, but no type of flavor, the food is so bland ?

The customer service from the older shorter lady with the braids is not pleasant at all. If she works in a restaurant she needs to be trained how to interact with customers. The way she speaks to you is disgusting, if customers irritate her that much she should find a new profession. Today wasn’t the first day for her behavior. The restaurant needs to take accountability for her actions.

I recently visited Faye & Joe's Southern Bowl, and unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the expectations I had based on the reviews. The service was lacking, their phone doesn’t have a clear connection and their customer service isn’t the most friendly.

It was about 615 pm I ordered 1 catfish dinner they were out so I wanted to wait . Then several other people behind me also wanted it. I wonder why at least 3 got their orders before me. They were down to the last of the greens .I asked if that was all. That's it !!! Another customer with more orders of catfish out comes another pan. I didn't get a full side. Didnt complain . I want to support my local businesses so I ordered an extra side. But to me in line and have to wait for people behind me and the portion sizes were not worth the 25 bucks ? COME ON... Managing this has got to be better now I don't want the food. I hope it tastes better than the service. Good Luck at that location

The food is excellent. We went on Sunday, which was a super busy time... Otherwise,everything was great! I guess it was worth the wait after using the website.

The food is ok but expensive. One piece of fish was $7.00. The collared greens were really good. The service is extremely slow. Most of the staff is friendly except one young lady.

I went Sunday, Oct 6, 2024 and it got packed early. Folks get out of church and they’re coming straight here. But they keep the food rolling.

First time here, and will be back !

I didn't enjoy most of the food. The yams tasted like peach cobbler, so that was disappointing. I mean ridiculously sweet. The greens were pretty good. I don't think I'd go back.

Great food! Friendly service! Clean environment! Even my 16 year old daughter loved the food! She’s hard to please! She said she needs to give the cook a hug! LOL Great job Southern Bowl. I’ll be over today for some more greens!

I've had the food before and enjoyed it. So when I had a very important event and needed to bring wings, I didn't hesitated to give them a play. I could've went to Sharks but decided to give this black owned business a chance even though it was a bit pricey. Spoke to the manager, Dorothy. Told her the day and the time I needed to pick my order up and was required to pay in full prior to. Well, I get there to pickup as I was in a crunch for time. I'm waiting and waiting. No one is saying anything to me. While I'm standing in the restaurant, I get a call from Dorothy, the manager, telling me that there were no wings !! She apologized and said that their shipment didn't come in (was not trying to hear it !!) I'm getting this info AT THE TIME of pickup. Now I'm without food and had to figure something else out ASAP. No one physically there would talk to me. Not even an offer of a free meal to keep my business (not that I would accept it). I don't recommend this place and I will never be back!!

The are hands down the best.. I'm from Washington state..love me some southern comfort food.. this is top 3 places I have been. The pineapple coconut cake was out of this world..

Very clean place, enjoyed the food. I had oxtails, sweet potatoes, green beans, and rice. Dessert peach cobbler. I live in Chicago plan to visit again.

First time here after eating their catered food at my job. Soooo impressed. Excellent genuine soul food. The fried catfish and greens were very tasty, well seasoned. And the yams…wow; not sure I’ve had any better. The service was great, very friendly and helpful. Will be returning.
