I visited Glo Jean’s Kitchen after hearing from a friend that they serve vegan food, and I left very underwhelmed with the entire experience. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

I initially planned to just buy myself some lunch, but when I noticed it was a small Black-owned business, I chose to support and spent over $90 trying multiple entrees: the vegan po boy and vegan gyro with fries and salad, the jerk turkey sliders for my husband (ordered plain with only pickle and pepper jack cheese), and three orders of hotdogs for my children.

I was told the wait would be 30 minutes, but my order took about 45 minutes. When I checked the food in my car, I noticed my husband’s sliders were made incorrectly — they came with lettuce, tomato, and remoulade, all things he does not eat. I went back inside and politely let the young lady at the register know. The person who prepared the food hollered from the back, “I’m sorry. I’m rushing,” which came across as rude and dismissive. The young lady informed me the sliders would be remade, which would take another 15 minutes.

What frustrated me most was that before I even stepped away from the counter, the person who prepared my order (who I assume was the owner) instructed the cashier to see if a DoorDash driver waiting for another order wanted my incorrect food. He happily accepted it. As the paying customer, this was disappointing for two reasons:

1. I had paid for that food and was the one inconvenienced. At the very least, I should have been offered the option to keep it.
2. Nothing was done to make up for the mistake. I waited over an hour in total for my food and was not offered even a simple courtesy like a bottle of water, a can of soda, or any acknowledgment beyond a hollow apology.

While waiting, I tried some of the food that had been prepared correctly. It was just okay — not hot, and the side salad was pitiful. It consisted of shredded iceberg lettuce that looked old and unappetizing, the kind you’d put on a taco at best. See photo. The best thing that I tasted were the fries and vegan po boy.

Overall, the food was mediocre, the service lacked basic courtesy, and the experience left me feeling unappreciated as a paying customer. I wanted to support this small business, but after spending over $90 and being treated this way, I won’t be back.

Excellent fresh home cooked food!! And so many Vegan options it was almost too hard to choose! Thank you for a lovely lunch with my girls. We will be back for sure.

Absolutely great service. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful, I believe he was the owner but didn't catch his name. My hubs had the shrimp po'boy, he said it was amazing. The highlight was the vegan BBQ tips. Don't know what his secret was, but I'm bummed we don't live closer to get them more often.

This place is a top notch hidden gem! The owner makes you feel like a regular customer and in our case he made our kids feel welcomed and comfortable by simply being attentive and considerate.

The Shrimp Po Boy was amazing and if you want to have your mind blown try the vegan BBQ tips.

Always try new places on road trips. This is a great stop with a diverse menu of vegan and traditional options. We had the regular burger and black bean burger. Both tasted great and were obviously made fresh. Fries and garlic fries are outstanding and abundant. Highly recommend and try something different while you are there!

In town visiting and found this spot near my company. I’m from the South and yall the BBQ Eggplant Sandwich (I had cheddar subbed in place of their vegan cheese) was out of this world. Told as many coworkers as I could. Definitely worth the visit! I did takeout and got to chill while my food was made, but next time might hit them up on DoorDash to be more efficient. Highly recommend!

I just had the bbq pulled jackfruit and garlic fries, and they’re both delicious. The owner is also very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for both vegan and nonvegans alike!!!

Pretty good. Cashier, who i think was the owner, was nice, energetic and informative. I ordered the classic burger. Burger was good just needed some seasoning. The fries were good with plenty of seasoning actually could've added some to the burger. Lol. I definitely recommend. Will return to try something different. Thank you.

Forgot to add. Didn't know the burger had mayonnaise on it until I got home and looked at the burger. The menu doesn't say the burger comes with mayo. Yall may want to add that so customers can make a choice. Not a mayo fan but the burger was good.
