The subs here are amazing—great cuts of meat, excellent flavor, and overall really high quality. My only complaint is the salad. I ordered one and it was mediocre at best: basically just shredded iceberg with a handful of black olives, a few pickles, and some cucumbers. For nearly $8, it felt like a rip-off considering I could’ve bought a whole bag of shredded iceberg at Juul for about a dollar. Iceberg doesn’t have flavor (it’s basically water), and while their vinaigrettes are delicious, they’d be much better served over a spring mix or microgreens. Bottom line: go here for the subs—the meatballs especially are phenomenal, I’d eat a whole bowl of them with gravy. But skip the salad, it’s not worth it.

I will never cheat on Alpine in Elmwood Park, again. Horrible sandwich...frozen meat thrown on hard bread, gobs of mayo 😕. Not returning

Easily one of the best sandwich place in Chicago. Blockbuster a local standard. This location is a near exact copy of the original in the Taylor street district. A classic in the suburbs!

Haven't been here for almost 10 years, I remember the food being better. Staff even tho was a busy lunch rush were very structured and kind. We just weren't impressed with our food. Hoping its a fluke and will try again. Used to love this place for meatball subs!

Just as good as I remember from my UIC days.
Had a Wise Guy today and the hot peppers really made the sandwich.
There were a few batches of hot peppers over the last ten years which weren’t that hot. The peppers today were a reminder of Fontano’s old school awesomeness!
