Pepe's Mexican Restaurant Reviews
The management at this location is a joke. The management ended up making one of the kids in my group cry. He was rude and really didn’t care to serve our group of 7. He actually turned money away. The website doesn’t have the right information, so when we questioned that he became irritated and started raising his voice at my 11yr old daughter and I. They call it the service industry for a reason and the service here is best served in hell.
Old school feeling. Meal portions are much smaller now.
Last night had to be the worst restaurant experience ever. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left.
When someone asks for a chicken breast with grilled fajita meat and you bring out a plate of uncooked vegetables you wonder has this person ever waited on people before? Pepe's Mexican Restaurant has been a long-time favorite for many customers. While some have fond memories of the original location on 47th Street in Chicago, others have mixed experiences with the service and food quality. The service is often fast and friendly at first, but can taper off after the food is served. The food, although plentiful, can sometimes be overly salty and bland in flavor. However, the atmosphere at this location is nice, with a large dining area and a separate bar section. The entrance is particularly impressive, featuring high ceilings and festive decorations. The staff, including the friendly waiter Juan and the management team led by Jessie, can be attentive. The restaurant offers complimentary chips and salsa with meals, adding to the dining experience. The menu features a variety of options, including the Fiesta Combo, which includes a tostada, enchilada suiza, taco, and tamale. The steak fajitas are noted for their good balance of steak, peppers, and onions, while the steak quesadilla receives positive remarks as well. Although the restaurant may occasionally be short-staffed, leading to longer wait times to order, food is served quickly. Prices may be on the higher side, but the restaurant remains a popular choice for delicious Mexican cuisine and is known for the best margaritas in the area.
