Stoney Point Grill - Homewood

I usually visit Stony Point once a week with a friend to watch the games. This time, I decided to stop in on Saturday for lunch with my wife. The server was excellent and the food was good. When I received the bill, I noticed an 18% gratuity had been automatically added. We were just two people sitting at the bar, so this caught me off guard. I asked the server about it, and they explained it was a new policy implemented last Monday and that a notice was posted on the door—which it was. The server suggested I speak with the manager, as I found it unusual for tipping to be mandatory. While waiting, I called the Mokena Stony Point location to see if they had the same policy. The manager there told me absolutely not—they only add gratuity for parties of five or more. When the manager at the original location came over, he said the policy was put in place due to customers not tipping appropriately. I told him this sends the wrong message. In a predominantly Black neighborhood, mandatory tipping is enforced, yet in a predominantly white neighborhood like Mokena, it’s not. That’s a bad look. He responded by saying they have to find a way to pay their staff. I told him I wouldn’t be returning. A policy like this should be consistent across all locations—not selectively enforced. I just thought you should be aware.

This is the first time I was here. Met a friend for lunch and had the Chicken gyro special and it was excellent. Service was very good. Would recommend this restaurant!

I would like to leave a review of their food, however, after 15min of waiting, we weren't able to order. We were seated right away but after looking over the menu and waiting, all staff continued to walk past our table. No one approached us, no one gave us water, no one said, "I'll be right with you." Needless to say, we left and likely won't return.

The drinks were great. I had a salad and it was really good. There were a few flies in the restaurant near the bar. It was annoying, so the atmosphere I rated down. If not for the flies I would have given 4 stars.

My family hosted a private event at this restaurant and everything was perfect! When we arrived, they had the room set up as we requested and were ready to go. The service provided by Lynn, David and Sam was top tier! They served with a smile and were very friendly to all of our guests. We'd been to the restaurant once before and liked the food and it did not disappoint at our event. Tandy was the manager for our event and made sure everything ran flawlessly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Perfect Absolut Martini with superb Blue Cheese Olives.
The service was top notch and the food delicious. We had the Friday night special of Fried Cod and fries and the Salmon salad. Both tasty.
We’ll be back.

The food was extremely salty and the manager showed no concern stating that no matter what all of the food is cooked the same. Showed no concern for the way the food is prepared.
