I love the idea of a place like this in the suburbs with vegan and gluten free options. I just wish it all tasted better. I've tried a variety of the bakery items and ate inside once for breakfast. I'd rather just make the trip to the city for a good vegan breakfast. I don't think I'd go back again unless I was close by.

It's awesome to have a vegan and GF restaurant! But they are super expensive i spent $70 on a Valentine's meal. 3 course meal that felt like you were eating a TV dinner. Everything was stale. I've ate here a handful of times mostly the baked goods. Each time worst then time before. I'm so sad I tried so hard to like it and kept coming back. Over priced and stale is what I'd say describes this restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2022-02-16

UpRising is small business with so many offerings. You can dine in for any meal or grab something from their case to go. I was nervous because previous reviews made it sound like it leaned vegetarian but everything on the menu and in the case was vegan. Our server said the only time something wouldn't be vegan is when they order speciality GF breads out-of-house to carry.

I had the wintermint coffee and peppermint chocolate bundt cake and both were soooo good. Such a great atmosphere as well. Love what they are doing for the community

I really had high hopes for this bakery. First time stopping in and wasn't impressed at all with the selection of bakery items. I let my kids pick an item each and they all spit it out and said gross. So I have $15 of treats with one bite out of them that no one will touch. That has never happened. My husband and I didn't believe them so we tried it ourselves and yes it just didn't taste right. I also noticed I got charged $1.50 for a delivery fee. What was the delivery? Needless to say I won't be going back or recommending this place.

I contacted Uprising Cafe Monday evening via email about a last minute carrot cake for my boss at work and I heard back right away first thing the next morning. I was so surprised to hear back so quickly and they said they could have it ready that next morning! I was blown away by how prompt they were. Not only did I get it the next day but they made it fresh that morning. My boss was so excited that we found a local bakery who is able to make a Vegan carrot cake. He loved it. Thank you so much Uprising Cafe for everything!!

This was a nice place. Had a selection of baked good. I choose a fun Halloween cupcake and my son got a chocolate chip cookie. The cup cake was the good the frosting was phenomenal. Best frosting ever. Not sure what it was but man I want a bowl of that. The cookie was a hard cookie so my son did not want it. I did try it was good flavor but definitely would be good with warm drink to dip with it. Will go back and try more. Service was good. As I ask a ton of questions. Staff was patient with me and helpful was so hungry i did not get a picture as I started eating it before we even got out of the store

I really want to support this business but after multiple attempts I have come to the conclusion that their product is just not good. If you like a less sweet, dense and dry baked good then this place is for you but I prefer my baked goods to be fresh, light, fluffy and moist. My husband stopped by this morning and got cider donuts, pumpkin spice mini bundts and cinnamon rolls and everything is so dry it tastes like it has been sitting out for 3 days. I also want to point out that we do not have food allergies so we only tried their regular baked goods so I can't speak to how their gluten free items are. They do have a great selection of gluten free items for those that have a gluten sensitivity and I know it's hard to find many places that offer a wide range of gluten free items. Maybe that's where this place shines because their regular baked goods are extremely sub par.

The menu is awesome! So many vegan baked goods and the cafe menu has tons of vegan options too. Many GF options as well. The friendliest staff and owner you'll find. Go here!

Apple cider donuts, cupcakes and mini Bundt cakes were all great. The "butter"cream frosting was INCREDIBLE and not too sweet. The cakes were a little hard on the outside so we thought they'd be dry, but they were soft on the inside. The scones were a little dry for our taste. We drove a little under an hour to support this business because they support the community (and are mostly vegan!). It was busy by the entrance, but it was hard to tell if people were in line for the register, checking out the case of baked goods or waiting to be seated. We asked if we could sit at the tables if we just wanted coffee and pastries. She said yes but we should order at the counter. Nothing in the case was labeled with what it was, the price or if it was vegan/gluten free. It would be a lot nicer for customers and staff if each were labeled. We had to ask about each item, and if we forgot (there was a lot), we had to ask again. We told them we were dining in, but we got everything in to go containers. Really would have preferred mugs for our coffee and plates/forks for our cake. We went back to the counter multiple times to ask them to wipe down the table, for napkins, a plate, a knife. They were friendly every time but it would have been a more relaxed, pleasant experience if they anticipated these basic things.

Everything appears to be vegan, gf options, and their desserts are amazing. Love the brownies, husband says the biscuits and gravy are the best vegan version he has ever had.

We bought cinnamon rolls and the pumpkin/maple bundts. They were both delicious, and not overly sweet which is perfect for me. If you are someone who reads reviews, I would definitely stick to the positive reviews regarding this business. Yes, all businesses make mistakes sometimes, but this particular business has been under attack by locals who are upset over what this business represents. They are harassing customers and putting false negative reviews about the business online to make people less likely to come. It is a safe spot for people who feel they cannot be their true selves in society. It is especially difficult to be your authentic self when you have people bombarding you outside the door stating you will go to hell if you support this business or that this business is "grooming" children. If you do not want your child exposed to positivity, love and acceptance, then don't take your child here. But if you DO want to eat some yummy treats and maybe support your local musician or artist who happens to identify along the LGBTQ+ spectrum, then please do. We wont get anywhere in this world without support from others, so thank you Uprising Bakery for continuing to stand strong even when you don't always feel supported.
