I just moved to Huntley and I was so excited to see there’s a TSC next to me because I go a few times a week. I will be going to Lake In the Hills due to the horrible ownership and management at this location . I had 1500 points to use for a free smoothie. I showed the employee that it wasn’t working from my app. Asked if I can scan the code in store. He scanned and said it didn’t work… I said ok? So what are you going to do? He said there’s nothing I can do. It’s the smoothie you’re ordering. So I tried another smoothie and changed the ingredients. Didn’t work again. Now it says I’ve used the points already and I need to wait to redeem more (I hadn’t used any, all of this is app misfiring). At this point I’m getting a little frustrated because I’d think a manager could just come and manually adjust the register? I asked to speak to a manager to see if he’d be willing to help their app error, the kid told me no.
I looked at him confused, said ok, and walked out. I will be making the drive to lake in the hills to avoid such trash customer service. I can’t imagine running a business and being so cheap that you don’t even correct your own wrongs over a small $7 smoothie. I wrote to corporate and I’m assuming they’ll have to makeup for this individual owners lack of business skills.

I arrived at the location 10 minutes before closing. They stated they were closed. Open sign was still flashing. No worries; I’ll go to Smoothie King. I arrived at Smoothie King at 8:57 and was serviced. I made sure to tip as they were closing.

I usually enjoy ordering the Açaí Bowl from Tropical Smoothie Café, especially when I visit the Vernon Hills location. It’s always served properly — with Greek yogurt and fresh ingredients, never frozen. However, my experience at the Huntley location has been disappointing.
Yesterday, I ordered the same Açaí Bowl through DoorDash and received it completely frozen. Thinking it was a delivery issue, I gave it another try and visited the store in person today (June 12 at 7:15 a.m.), hoping for a better experience.
Unfortunately, I received the same frozen bowl again. I politely told the staff member that it was frozen and not edible that way. Instead of offering a solution, he rudely insisted that “it’s supposed to be like that.” When I asked how I was expected to eat something completely frozen, he responded in an unpleasant tone and showed no willingness to help.
After I requested a refund, he continued insisting that this was the correct way to serve it. I’ve never had this issue at other locations, and I was surprised by how defensive and disrespectful he became. I had to agree with him just to end the uncomfortable exchange.
This kind of customer service is unacceptable. It’s frustrating to be treated poorly for calmly voicing a valid concern. I won’t be ordering the Açaí Bowl from this location again — and I hope management takes this feedback seriously.

The smoothies are delicious! So many options and flavors to choose from. As a mom, I appreciated that they took part in the local Boo Thru and passed out coupons for free kid smoothies for my two littles. It’s a fun place for a treat to us, and I watched many people come by for their full meal.
