My Dad passed away 4 years ago today and he loved JR’s so much! It was a staple for his lunch the last two years of his life. To commemorate i went and got lunch there today. I got a 2 piece snack with a salad bar because I couldn’t decide on the side. I asked if o could take the 2 piece snack home in a box and they wouldn’t let me. I’m not going to eat all that chicken in one sitting. I was told absolutely not. Made a sad day even more sad 😢 I just wanted to take the chicken home, that’s all. I believe in rules but man can you guys have a heart?? 😭😭 i think 1 to go box wouldn’t have hurt anybody.I wont ever be back. I never ever do this as I am an overly generous tipper but I did not tip at all. Such a bummer,

I will say I had my food delivered by DoorDash, but the dasher came straight to me after picking it up. When I say these are some of the worst chicken gizzards I’ve ever had, I mean they are almost unedible. They taste more like raw flower than any kind of seasoning. The “breading” is soggy and falling off. The only way I thought I could eat them was covering them in ranch dressing. Even ranch dressing couldn’t save them. First time having JR’s. Probably will be the last time.

One of my coworkers got the ribs and they weren't the greatest. I ordered a 3 piece chicken, and left. Upon getting ready to eat, I noticed I only received two. So I returned back, told the register girl nicely that I only got two pieces but I ordered three. She resulted in grabbing the container from my hand, walking to the back, came back and handed me the item. She didn't say anything, No apology no nothing. Fries were bland, no salt added and chicken was too sweet and kinda burned.

The chicken was just ok, but the sides were not good at all, the mashed potatoes were watery they forgot the gravy I ordered and the corn was tasteless.
We have to travel to Chicago often and try to stop at different places to eat on the way home. We found this place in Kankakee yesterday. afterbreading some reviews, we decided to stop. The food was excellent! salad bar was cold, fresh and everything was good. soup was homemade and good. The chicken was excellent! restaurant was nice and clean and the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Give it a try!!!

Let me start off by saying this place is a hidden gem. I was referred by a coworker of mine and I was hesitant about coming at first but I’m absolutely glad I did. The staff was very welcoming and professional. I ordered the pot roast and 2 pieces of chicken thighs. The taste of the food exceeded my expectations. Then a customer that was also dining in offered to treat me to a piece of pie. I’m not really a pie person but I accepted the offer and let me tell you, it was by far the best cherry cheesecake pie I have every tasted. Everything is made fresh and in house. I will definitely be patronizing this place more frequently.
