My God I wish I wasn’t living in Colorado now!! I’d be there every chance I could. Hmmmm do you ship orders to Colorado? I love the chicken cold as much as I do hot!

Family friendly environment, also has areas restricted for 21+ for gaming. I was disappointed that the fries had no salt and the chicken had no flavor. The portions were good for the prize but food lacked flavor. I honestly would not go back.

Great roadside joint for some amazing wings. Ask for the pickles and crispies!

It's an unassuming place. Beautiful bar to enjoy while you wait for a table. Server was attentive without making is feel rushed. Chicken is OUTSTANDING! Get the Crispies and Pickles too. Cheers

I've been wanting to eat here for over 20 years but it never quite worked out, so on 12/10/2025 I was able to make it happen. A friend of mine grew up near here and raved about the chicken, well finally I was in the area yesterday and got to have it. First be aware if you get there at 4:00 when they open, they do not serve food until 4:40. I was offered some pickles and crumbles as I waited which were good. I ordered the Half Mixed (1/4 light and 1/4 dark). I think it was $ 15.00 to 16.00. along with a soda. The total bill minus tip was $ 21.00 so very reasonable. Be aware NO silverware. If I knew that I might have brought my own. It would have been so much easier eating the crumbles with a spoon/fork. Also since the chicken was so hot I burned my fingers a few times. The chicken came out piping hot, the fries not so much. The chicken was placed on a couple of thin slices of bread. I thought the chicken was excellent but I do not know if I could say it was the best I ever had. The prices were very reasonable and if I'm in the area again I would stop by and have it. Be aware CASH ONLY.

This was our first time going here and I felt as though the chicken was very fresh and it was good along with the sauces. The prices were affordable but I do feel as though some of the workers were very rude towards us.

I’ve been going to Rips since 1960 and it’s been the best chicken on the planet. This time it’s evident that they’ve cut corners in many ways. The breading is thinner; the oil they use tastes different; the chicken leg and thigh is smaller; the French fries were chewy. Too bad. I’m now 85 years old and requested a trip from Rockford for one last time before I die. I guess I didn’t quite make it before Rips sorta died before me.

I traveled all over the world for over 35 years as a pilot for a major airline and have never found better fried chicken anywhere.
