Very delicious coffee in a beautiful place. One of my wishes was to see my son after boot camp and have a coffee. We picked a wonderful spot

We love the atmosphere, the delicious cold brew, and the pastries (highly recommend the apple fritter)! We stop by at least once a week and bring any friends/family to Hansa when they are in town visiting.
What a great coffee shop! Stopped in for a iced coconut latte to enjoy with the warm weather. Drink was very flavorful! Perfectly sweetened and balanced.

Frankly, in all my years of traveling, I have never had such great coffee in the US. I'd highly recommend this place.

Overall I wish the Hansa leadership would staff differently and enhance their existing technology. Generally, it takes about 20 minutes during peak hours (8-10-am) to get a basic coffee drink which can be frustrating. Beyond that, I will describe my past 3 experiences:
1) There was a group of folks waiting for their online orders (again, things generally take a long time) and the two gals were looking at a cell phone and laughing instead of making drinks. Because I had to get a train, I politely asked if they could please make my drink versus chatting among themselves in which one of the girls reluctantly made my drink and then told me that it, “wasn’t her problem” that I had to get a train. I agree my work schedule isn’t her problem, but when you are employed at a coffee spot steps from a train station going every 30 mins to downtown Chicago during rush hour, I would assume realizing the importance of time to some customers is part of the gig.
2) Their app was down and the usual 20 mins took about 30 mins per drink. I ended up abandoning my drink because I simply couldn’t wait any longer.
3) I ordered 20 mins in advance via the app and when I showed up they didn’t have my order. Fortunately I did have 10 extra minutes and hoped they might go a little bit faster but alas another drink abandoned. I would legit pay extra to have them make my drink faster but they act very confused any time there’s even a little bit of a rush implied.
3 stars is a generous rating given my personal experiences but I typically try to be as unwaveringly positive as possible about local businesses. They score points for location and the atmosphere is fine if you are a retiree, stay at home mom or otherwise have a lot of time to kill. I might suggest some customer service training for the staff or to instill some sort of sense of urgency during peak hours in particular. It might make sense to invest in some grab-and-go options in their fridge section.

Ordered two drinks, one came right away, the other was apparently never going to come until we asked about it. Then they made 3 more drinks before they made the missing one. When it finally came it wasn't filled all the way and the lid wasn't sealed.
Was pretty disappointed in both drinks we got. The other Hansa location has been a much better experience for us.

Cappuccino with 3 special espresso shots is my favorite here. Their in house coffee beans are so special ? whenever I go to lake Bluff Hansa coffee is my go to coffee shop. The vibe is different yet familiar ?

Stopped in for a coffee during my lunch and was very impressed with not only their selection, but with the taste as well! I got the Maple Cardamom and was very good. Highly recommend if in the area!

Great little coffee shop. Alternate milks are soy, almond, and oat. Basic bakery bites are available, but they do not have an oven/toaster, so it can not be warmed up. Wine and beer are available for purchase. Overall cute and chill.
