Dos Amigos Mexican Restaurant

Hearing a lot of good things about Dos Amigos in Libertyville, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is well laid out with two storefronts wide, seating on both sides and a kitchen in the middle on one side and a bar on the other side. We were seated very quickly and ordered guacamole for appetizer. I thought that it was under seasoned with no tomato or onion or even salt and pepper. I added some of the salsa that came with the chips to improve the taste.
I ordered the Surf and Turf, which is grilled shrimp and a thin but well seasoned ribeye. Rice and steamed medley of vegetables filled the plate with an impressive abundance of food. My wife ordered the salmon with some food restrictions. Her plate was filled with a good portion of salmon, medley of vegetables, rice, and chopped mango. Both of our dishes were pleasantly designed and very tasty. The food here is very good and worth the ticket price. Main courses run between $24 and $30. Some items are less and some are more. We didn't order drinks or desert and the bill was around $70. I would return and enjoy trying many other dishes.
I enjoyed the paintings and decorations all around the restaurant, even the hanging decorations. It is not over done with wild painted walls and cheap Mexican stuff, like numerous other Mexican style restaurants. This is one of the best Mexican Restuarants that I really enjoyed.

WOW! I haven’t even finished yet, but the steak tacos are insanely good. Really friendly and helpful atmosphere. Got food right away and it is so so good. Thank you!

Poor quality of ingredients and overpriced. I should have known as soon as I tasted the chips and salsa, the chips were not authentic and salsa tasted like tomato sauce, no flavor. Sorry will never go back.

Amazing Mexican food except one thing to note! I notice that Mondays and Tuesdays the food isn’t as good quality and well made as the other days.

Not sure if there is a different cook or what. I order the veggie stir fry, and notice the veggies are not cooked all the way when I order on Mondays and Tuesdays. Other than this, amazing food!

Awesome food and excellent service

The birria tacos were absolutely delicious. (Quesabirria). Greasy, but that’s how the dish is made everywhere—as far as I know. The portion—3 tacos—was perhaps too much. 2 would have been perfect for one person. The complimentary chips were stale and not of great quality. Overall, though, I’m happy with the place. The service was prompt and friendly. I’d come back.

1st time in, service was terrible. We had to keep flagging down our waitress for service Chips and guacamole aren't worth 11!!! You can go elsewhere for free chips+salsa and pay a little extra for guac. Food was mediocre. Mexican restaurants are all over Lake county, we'll keep going elsewhere.

Stopped in yesterday for a very early dinner/late lunch with my family and we had a great experience. Delicious food. My burrito was big and filled with chicken. My wife loved the steak she got. Friendly staff and the price was right. The waitress was great with the kids and either the manager or owner came by to ask how things were going. They are obviously working very hard to make it a great time for customers, and I felt like they appreciated our business. This is a place that deserves your business. There are similar establishments for Mexican food in the lake county area, but the welcoming atmosphere of this one sets it apart.

First off, we apologize for arriving so late to the restaurant. I booked it online without checking the closing time. Anyway, my husband and I ordered the nachos (tasted very good) and I had a daiquiri and the drink was perfectly made. I plan to come back but this time at a perfect time.
