New ownership, kind family, disappointing new donut changes :(

So bummed cause I used to love their donuts and stop in all the time on my morning commute for office donuts. I'm a pastry snob, admittedly. Their donuts used to be petite and consistent and fresh every day and not-too-sweet. Now the donuts are bigger/thicker, dry, sloppy presentation, unpleasantly sweet, neon pink frosting, the jelly and pastry cream center of the stuffed donuts noticeably no longer homemade.... Also consistently nearly out of product when I stop in at 8:30am. Please go back to your original recipes!! Used to be the best I've ever had! :(

Coffee is microwaved and quite honestly dangerously hot the 3-4 times I've ordered one to go...

also....sandwiches???

Loved Lee donuts before new ownership. It was delicious and reliable.

I went in recently and was surprised to see how much of the donuts they were out of at 10AM! It’s very odd… they need to make more of the classics.

Also they were out of coffee sleeves - handing us a burning hot cup. This was after they microwaved the coffee….

Ugh!

First time trying Lee donuts and it was amazing the staff was super friendly. Their prices are much better than then a lot of other donut shops in the area. love the setup. My favorite is blueberry donut best I ever had.

Unfortunately since this place has change ownership it has gone downhill.

The donuts throughout the week seem to be a day or two old.

I also had a bad experience ordering online. Placed the order 30 minutes before and hoped to pick it up on my way to work. They didn't even know they had an online order until I got therem. I then waited another 15 minutes for them to box everything up.

Not worth going in the afternoon. At 4pm there were only 2 trays of donuts in the whole case, and they tasted stale. Coffee, advertised as Starbucks tasted like Folgers. The cream was not refrigerated and had been sitting out on the counter. My order was missing a coffee and the tuna sandwich was spoiled.

So, a group of myself and 4 others came to this shop and did not have a good experience. First, when we first walked into the shop, it was very warm (like ~80°F). The menu was hard to read as well since the slide show was moving too fast on the screens to read it all. We all collectively ordered 2 donuts, a steak sandwich, a tuna sandwich, and 2 coffees. For the donuts, one was incredibly stale. For the tuna sandwich, it had gone bad and made one of the people in the group sick. The steak sandwich was okay, but it is not sitting great in my stomach... Lastly, for the coffees, one was not even given to us. The one coffee we did get was very mid and served in a... Starbucks cup? Suffice it to say, we will not be coming back, hopefully, ever.

Donuts and donut holes were easily some of the best I've ever had. Everything was fresh and tasty.

The donuts are fantastic but the place itself is gross. The floor is sticky and looks like it hasn't been swept or mopped in days. No napkins available and when we asked the staff said their boss hadn't ordered any paper goods or cleaning supplies in a while. The bathroom didn't have toilet paper, soap or paper towels either and was disgusting. I wonder if they even have soap in the kitchen to wash their hands. I don't think it's dramatic to say the health department should probably be called.

Paid 27 dollars for a dozen doughnuts that were hard as a rock. Filled 4 custards doughnuts for us just to find out that there was 2 drops of custard in the doughnuts which they charged us to fill. It was our first time in there we won't be back.

Only good thing was the service with the staff.

1 star. Being gaslighted by some corrupted police and the sinolia cartel working together murdered my whole family and messed my little neices up and these 2 kids in there want to take there side when they don't know the whole story and poisn my coffee . Watch out who knows what they will do to your donuts. Down here at the hospital shame on those guys

This past March marked the very first time actually stepping into the shop. They are really good here and better than most donut shops in the county.

Had the donuts off & on several years ago when my mom was working at the VA in North Chicago and used to bring left overs from other co-workers bringing in donuts in the morning.

Can't review anything else here except the donuts which are delicious, sorry about that but I'll definitely be in here soon again being I work overnight and can easily stop in before going home in the morning.

I've always strived to support local especially in today's economy and I wish for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).

I really want to love Lee Donuts. The donuts themselves are amazing. Nothing super fancy, no frills, but dang they are so amazingly good. That said, the inside of the store is pretty bad. The floors are black and sticky from lack of mopping—gross. Broken down boxes stacked on the counter. Christmas decor still out in June. A bucket of crayons tossed in the corner, presumably for kids to color?? Just rough all around. Seeing the front of house in this shape really makes you question what the back of house looks like. Just a good solid clean up and minimal investment and this place could shine.
