Fantastic night celebrating my daughters graduation from the Navy. The service was wonderful and the food was excellent. We flew in from California and definitely chose the right place to have dinner.
The Tavern is a perfect place to have a special dinner. The service is outstanding and the food is excellent!!
The food, the service, the ambience were all flawless, had the most amazing dining experience!
The service and food were excellent The wine selection was amazing Best steak restaurant in Libertyville
We love Tavern. We ordered a little different than usual. Wonderful food and wine. Matt made this a great night all around. What a great server.
Food was very good quality, but not the level of service that I would have expected for a 6 person $900 bill. Steak was cooked properly and was warm, but not "fresh-from-the-grill" hot that you'd expect for that kind of bill. Drinks, sides, and dessert were all very good.
A wonderful experience for our special evening thoroughly enjoyed our food and my espresso martini was perfect and not too sweet. our waitress was amazingly attentive and very nice. all dining experiences should be this tasty and comfortable.

Oysters and smoked salmon starters were excellent, Wagyu strip steak was not chewable, server was nice but weak and needs training. My steak ordered rare plus was cold so either waiter and/or kitchen doesn't know and server never asked how the steaks were. The atmosphere is amazing and we love the place but this visit was not up to their normal standard.
Such a lovely experience for my Mom's birthday! The staff are so warm and accommodating and the ambience in fresh and exciting. Would absolutely recommend.

Another special occasion at The Tavern. Our family loves their oysters and their 22 oz dry aged steak. They said it was once again cooked just as requested and was delicious! We both had the salmon on the specials menu and independently found that we didn't like it very much unfortunately. In the past, the salmon on the regular menu was terrific, but this was a different version. Should've gone with the halibut. They are back to serving warm, fresh bread again which we enjoyed. The drinks were terrific and there is a selection of German NA beers which two of us really liked. Not your run of the mill O'Douls that other places have, but instead they carry Krombacher both in NA Hefeweizen and the NA Pilsner. The truffle fries were very good, and really too generous of a portion. The three of us could only finish 1/2 the plate. We sampled desserts-- creme brulee, carrot cake and the lava cake. All were good. Our waitress and all of the bus staff were very personable and prompt, frequently checking on whether we needed anything. Service was excellent. Noise is much lower upstairs, which we prefer now that the downstairs has been changed to a lounge. The decor is one of a kind and we really think it is pretty special.
I ordered a Delmonico steak which was below expectations. It was not a ribeye cut. The meat had no marble and was not tasty.I have eaten at the Tavern for 25+ years and this was my first major disappointment. The Tavern credited me for the order but it ruined our meal.Peter 9/18/25

Best restaurant in town!
The ambiance is beautiful, but the food was absolutely amazing. Portions were pretty hefty too. Our steaks were cooked perfectly.
Always a great experience! The food is excellent and the service is top notch. They pace everything very well and you don't feel like they are trying to turn tables.
