We’ve been going to Raymes on and off since it opened in 1974. Since the fire and rebuild, we’ve only made it back a few times, but tonight’s visit stood out.
The food was good—solid and satisfying—but what really made the evening enjoyable was the service. Attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming, the staff elevated the whole experience.
The remodel has improved the atmosphere compared to the old space, giving it a fresher and more inviting feel. Overall, it was a pleasant dinner, thanks in large part to the kind of service that can truly make or break a meal.

This place is Lisle's version of the Bull & Finch Pub (the actual name of the pub in Boston that the TV show Cheers was modeled after). Everyone knows everyone else there. It's truly one of Lisle's treasures. Great people and fare to match.

Last time I went with friend our walleye was dry, overcooked. Yesterday I stood at host stand, I am handicapped, host was on phone and never addressed meat all.. went to bathroom, came back standing, waiting till I said something. Sat at a bad table, scolded for moving my chair, moved to another table, waited, waited no one came. I was embarrassed by scolding..got up and left. 🙁I had been there once before had very good clm chowder.. walleye not bad.. okay. That time I felt it was too dark with bad decor. Not warm nor cherry. I was a to Restaurant Manger in Hotels and other 15 years.. atmosphere, service, good... Mediocre and a little high considering all. I will never go back. I can make my own chowder. Servers seem mediocre also, not cheerful nor professional. Well they are suited to this atmosphere.

Very disappointed. Who tops their French onion soup with season salt? Broccoli was bright green but mushy and twice baked potato was a disappointment. Walleye was good. Service was a let down. Was ignored for most of the meal and after 20 minutes of waiting for our server had to ask the manager for our check. Was looking forward to this experience but will not return.

Food was fine. Steak had good flavor but was over cooked. One of the plates we ordered was incorrect, they did replace it but by the time it came back out everyone else was half way done with their meal. Inside was very dark, luckily it was a beautiful night so we sat outside.
