Stopped by yesterday. I had not visited since pre-Covid and when Lawrence seafood had just taken over from Johnson‘s Dour county. Dining room tables were significantly cut 50%. Staff was very rude. I arrived approximately 7:20 pm. Thought I could eat a portion of my order in the dining room and told once I received my food that the dining room was closed. And the people that were in the dining room we’re just “wrapping things up”. I assume they were regulars and I was not. It was unfortunate because the heat of the day. I ordered shrimp with light breading and it was over cooked. It was like eating a tough piece of steak. The cold items seafood sauce, and coleslaw were packed in the same bag with the shrimp. Why wouldn’t they be in separate bags. For hot and cold?I would recommend a little patience from the staff. I understand you might be asked the same questions over and over but it’s the first time I’m asking them

Ordered catfish, cod, perch and shrimp. All tastes like it's been in a freezer for months if not more. Horrible fish taste. Worst seafood I've ever had

I had wanted to try this place a long time ago but forgot about it. Thankfully we were in the area and looking for a lunch spot that wasn't packed on this beautiful Saturday. The interior is quite nice. The white paint and brick is a nice touch. And it didn't feel icky sticky inside. We ordered 1 lb of fried cod, half pound of clam strips, and a side of corn fritters. The food came out pretty quickly. Thankfully it wasn't greasy. The cod fish nuggets were delicious. Succulent, flaky, and flavorful. The clam strips were pretty good. The corn fritters were awesome. Decently moist inside. The sauces they included were packaged, not house-made, so not the highest quality ingredients (i.e. HFCS). The seafood was very good, though, so I could definitely see myself going back.

Service is fast and fresh.Food comes out hot. Super clean and friendly.I recommend the pollack fish and chips. I would give it 5 stars only if they made their own tartar sauce and gave out lemon wedges.Besides that, the overall experience for takeout was good.

I once worked near the original Lawrence's on Canal St., and never got a chance to eat there. Ever since, I've wanted to. I love good, deep fried battered shrimp and fish. Today, I decided to fulfill my desire, and my wife and I went to the Lawrence's location in Hillside. After looking at the menu board, I decided to order shrimp, fish chips and clam strips - to experience a variety of offerings. Sorry to say, my dream of a seafood feast was shattered. This is not battered (like tempura) seafood, but an unseasoned, tasteless bread crumb coating. The problem is that all of the offerings had the same unseasoned, tasteless bread crumb coating, and all were equally tasteless. The coating was so overpowering that you couldn't even taste the fish. Not even the cocktail and tartar sauce helped. Live and learn. I waited a long time to be disappointed. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Unfortunately this location is either not on par with the Bridgeport location or their ordering is different.Lawerences unique breading is of course always awesome but the size of the shrimp were nothing like I remember the last time I had their shrimp in the city. It was almost like a mixture of decent sized shrimp and small shrimp.I grew up going to Lawerences for shrimp and fish chips so I am very familiar with the food.Needless to say I was a little disappointed with the size of the shrimp, especially since you don’t get much for what you are paying but overall it was fine.

This place is so good. The regular and coconut shrimp are so good. The clam stripes are really good not chewy like a lot of places. If you want good fried seafood go here.

Check your order before you leave the premises, often confused lately with some other customer's phoned-in, pick-up order. Quality of seafood, etc. does not disappoint. Everything they make is high end good, and place has been remodeled very well and is interesting, so you don't mind waiting if you can during Covid-19 precautionary restrictions, which is rough on local food perverers, as well as, sit-down restaurants. Good food and sides. You get what you pay for!Mike C.

Professional staff, Sean/Shawn answered prompty my inquiry on Soft Fried Frog Legs availability and was swift with his reply and Aniya was very courtesy and I mentioned that this was the first time visit and made future recommendations and I found the interior of the restaurant quaint the cozy atosphereme and great tasting food the whole family loved. Quick and accurate delivery. Keep up the great service, wish you future success!

The food was well prepared and fresh. However I ordered 1 whole pound and a half pound of lightly breaded shrimp, there was a special buy 1 pound of regular breaded shrimp get a half pound free for the month of January. My issue at that point was if this was an option good customer service would have informed of the special instead of never saying anything. While I know it's a business revenue thing, good customer service would have informed of the promotional offer as well and let the customer make the decision of their option.

Pound of fried shrimp: this is really what you come to this place for. So good and comes with their signature sauce which is absolutely fabulous. I ordered 7 pounds of this to bring home to my family as a post-Christmas break from the leftovers. Cannot recommend more. Very filling, a pound is plenty. 5/5 Curly fries: this is the first time I have ordered the curly fries and I have to say they were super tasty! Recommend these over the regular fries. 5/5 With each pound of seafood that you order or you get to sauces. I recommend also picking up a bottle of the sauce to bring home for other uses because it is that good. The folks behind the counter were super nice, i'm in from California and didn't want to make the drive all the way downtown to Canal Street. This was a much more convenient option and since the seafood fare is the same, it was close enough to my parents house where I could bring it home and it was still hot and delicious. Obviously the best way to enjoy it is at the actual store when it is super fresh out of the fryer, but it was a great option to keep my parents in the house during the pandemic.

If I could give this place any lower rating, I would! I was going to get a take out and wanted a paper menu, they said it was on line and I should look at that. I decided on a Cod Sandwich for $6.50 and other items. I said I wanted a Cod Sandwich for the $6.50. The girl points to their wall menu and says it is not that price! The listed price was $12.00!!! I asked if it was the same sandwich or a meal. She said sandwich only! Well, I didn't say what I really wanted, just said that's crazy, I am not paying almost double, it's not worth it! This is the most blatent price gouging I have seen! I will never go to another Lawrence's again. I am still making the same money as I was pre-pandemic, where do these people think that it is ethical to legally rob their customers!
