Came here for dinner with my wife and kids while we were in the area and had a great meal. I got the German platter with potato salad and sauerkrat. My wife got the broasted chicken sandwich. The kids got a burger, mac n cheese, and grilled cheese. If you love German food, the German platter is what to get. The potato salad was delicious. Mix that with a delicious bratwurst and Thuringer sausage and perfectly tangy sauerkraut, and my stomach was happy. My wife loved how tender, moist and flavorful the broasted chicken was and I didn't hear any complaints from the kids. An added bonus is that this is the oldest continuously running restaurant in Illinois. So there's some cool history there.Kid-friendliness: They have a great kid's menu and carpeted floors to dampen some of the more "interesting" sounds that little ones can make.

One of the owners Scott is a really cool dude! Our bartender was also amazing. She was very attentive and always make sure we had a drink. Will be back if I'm out this way! I would love to try their food next time!

You don't stay in continuous business since the 1840s (that is not a typo) without doing something incredibly right.

Stopped in this afternoon for lunch. It had been a few years since I stopped in. It was packed. Food was great, (best turkey club, with hand carved turkey. And the onion rings…. Wow! ❤️). service was efficient and a nice Selection of beers, wines and fun cocktails. I particularly liked the pink strawberry hot chocolate. It was delightful. Will be back. Already planning our next visit.

Loved the live music being played by the gentleman on the small stage and loved getting up to dance with other diners doing the same.Dietary restrictions: The person I was dining with is vegetarian and enjoyed a veggie dinner and I stick with gluten free, which was available.

In spite of our grumpy waiter, had a great experience. Happy that they're still in business! One of my favorite restaurants to celebrate Christmas. Reuben and broiled chicken sandwiches tasty. Fries absolutely delicious!

Only drank at the bar, good bourbon and the bartender was good and on top of everything. Smaller bar so one of us had to stand, good atmosphere and great location. We walked over and bought dessert at the connections across the street.
