Very bland food. Small portion. Chicken fajita was flavorless and small portion for $19.

Meh, the food was okay but there was no heart in it. It was also blazing hot and burned my face and hands. It was dead when we came in and it took a few to get the menu, she also didn't give us time to look at it so we felt rushed to pick before she quickly took it away. They were also openly talking poorly about a potential hire enough we could hear

We arrived after the usual dinner hour on 8/21 a Thursday evening. They restaurant was very busy with a large party as well as other patrons. The drinks were terrific and the gentleman and lady who appeared to be the only ones working were engaged in serving other patrons, but very gracious and welcoming and served us much more quickly than we anticipated.
The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The menu had a such variety of selections, it was difficult to choose. The dessert menu was ample and so tempting we each had a dessert and took another home for lunch on Friday. I highly recommend the fried ice cream. It was a delightful experience and we will surely return again and again.

I have been going here with my mother for a very long time. We have always loved the food and place. But recently my mother went in, she bought $80 worth of food to go. She said some was cold and her meats and shrimp weren’t cooked all the way. She then called to tell them about it, they told her sorry and to come in another day to get that food made again. She went in today Aug, 21st to get some of that food remade cause that’s what was told when she called. But she was then threatened by the manger saying he was gonna call the cops on her cause she comes in to eat and leaves a lot of times. He said she is the one who dine a dashes. She then told him she would never do such a thing, and to let her see the video then but was told no. My mother is 56 years old and has never stolen from anyone or any place. For a place to treat a customer that way is beyond disgusting. Do better.

I stopped in after not having been there in several years, when I used to come in every Christmas with my (3) kids. I have so many fond memories of bringing my kids, family and friends here. I had their famous Chicken “Buggy Burrito” along with chips and their authentic white cheese and salsa dip… it was even better than I remembered !!! I met Frankie and he was very attentive and gave me excellent service!!! I mentioned that I wanted to have their famous “Chicken Buggy Burrito” before I have surgery next week & Frankie even offered to say a prayer for me for a speedy and full recovery as well as even buying me a beer! That’s the kind of thing that makes You know how much they care about their customers and their experience when dining at Los Cocos Locos of Alvarez!!! Thank You Again & I’ll be Back Soon!!! Very good food !! Authentic, not Americans trying to make Spanish food ! My wife and I started with Alvarez probably 30-35 years ago when they were on the corner in Marengo. Very nice people and aim to please and have your experience as good as it can be !! 😃

Alvarez is by far one of the most welcoming service atmospheres in the Rockford area. Their fantastic service coupled with delicious dishes makes this spot such a gem!! My boyfriend and myself visit Alvarez frequently- every staff member we interact with greets us with smiles and great vibes. Portion sizes are perfect and flavors are always on point. Love y'all!

If you're looking for a true taste of Mexico, Los Cocos Locos in Alvarez is the spot! From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality make you feel at home. The menu is packed with authentic Mexican dishes that are bursting with flavor.

I started with their guacamole, which was incredibly fresh, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. Paired with warm tortilla chips, it was the perfect start. For the main course, I had their Fajita Hawaiianas —the pork was tender and juicy, seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of spice. The fresh cilantro and onion topping added a perfect crunch.

The margaritas are also not to be missed—refreshing, strong, and just the right balance of sweet and sour. Dessert was the churros, crispy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside, served with a decadent caramel dipping sauce.

The service was top-notch, with the staff checking in frequently and ensuring we were well taken care of. Los Cocos Locos offers an unforgettable dining experience with bold flavors, hearty portions, and a welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Chewy steak fajitas plus a very disappointing experience this time aka our last time. We have had decent meals and experiences in the past, so I am not sure if there are new owners or what. My wife asked if they had Tito's or what kind of vodka they had. The server apparently did not understand English and said oh, you want Jose? No, she did not want tequila. After getting another server that understood the word vodka, she held up a bottle of Smirnoff. My wife agreed to a vodka / soda. I am happy I had water after receiving the check. They charged my wife $12 for a Paloma - tequila drink when she had 1 vodka / soda. When I pointed out their mistake, they said this is the button they have to push. I said you can buy a bottle for that price. In an unfriendly tone, she stated that they don't set the prices. Smirnoff is a small step above rail vodka and a full 750 ml bottle can be purchased for $11 at Target as noted in the pics. The max price on Smirnoff should have been $5-6. A Tito's can be had for that price at most bars and restaurants. We came for food and not drinks, but this over-inflated and incorrect pricing was extremely disappointing.
