Just moved from out of state and after trying a couple of mexican restaurants in this area I can gladly say this one is the best in flavor . Im mexican and I can tell when their rice is super nice and flavorful . Their chips are the best all around honestly , not all restaurants cook their chips from actual tortillas like in here. Their Horchata is amazing you can tell is home made and they give you a big glass . And they also have the biggest tortas around .

We came here on a Friday for lunch, we work construction and dont have a lot of time, there was nobody there. The lady at the counter told us to have a seat and forgot about us. I really wanted to try the food but had to leave because we have to work.

The michelada was delicious, very good flavor. The burrito de carne asada was huge and very good as well (I took the burrito to go). The inside is very nicely decorated, the mural is a nice touch.

Ordered on a Sunday, not a soul in the restaurant. Some of the worst Mexican food I've had, I didn't eat half, just threw it away.

The food here is very good!!!!!!! A bit pricey but the quality is there!! The staff was on point and kept up with service!! Will definitely be back to try sushi next time. My Red snapper was cooked to perfection!!! They don't hold back on the seafood 😁!! Drinks were good and they have drink specials
!! Cinco de Mayo was a hit!! I will definitely be back!!❤️❤️

Phenomenal food. Some of the best tripa tacos and menudo I've had in Rockford. Everything was fresh and service was wonderful, this is going to become our ideal spot for Mexican food now.

We can’t help ourselves from going here once a week at least. Anything is cause for celebration and an excuse to come eat here.

The atmosphere is relaxing, the walls have so much to look at in the best way, it’s genuinely so artistic and happy. The music is always great. A good amount of windows and parking. Their bathroom is nice and clean always.

Their hours are perfect, on the weekends they’re reliably open until the early hours of morning and just what we need after a late night event.

Their food is delicious, and their plating is beyond gorgeous. It’s so good, my buds and I will get 1 to 2 entrees when we go eat there and look forward to having leftovers later. Their prices are fair and the portions are filling. The servers are very kind here, we always look forward to our visit and feel well taken care of.
Sometimes when they get overrun with grub hub orders, the wait can be a little long to be served- but they’re definitely worth the wait. And there are vegetarian options, but not many and I do wish there were more, but they’re very accommodating where they can be.

Best local restaurant we’ve ever known.

Fun place to go looking for treasures. This is the Eclectic Elephant. I don't know why it's being called a restaurant.

Our table received our order after every other table, even though everyone got in after we did. Waited almost an hour only to get my food undercooked. (Blood was still in it) Disappointed.

Mia Gordita: A Hidden Gem Worth the Risk

Coming from Houston, we’ve been trained to avoid empty restaurants like a bad Yelp review—if there aren’t any patrons, something must be up. But let me tell you, Mia Gordita defied all expectations.

First, the decor? Stunning. Spacious, spotless, and stylish—like a place that should be packed but somehow isn’t (yet). And the food? Phenomenal. Every bite made me question why the place wasn’t overflowing with hungry customers. Pro tip: If you like your salsa with a real kick, ask for the spicier version—it doesn’t play around.

Mia Gordita may look abandoned, but trust me, the only thing getting left behind here is your hesitation. 5 stars!
