This place was recommended to me. The atmosphere is very much like an English pub. I enjoyed the fish and chips and mushy peas. Would come back!

My husband and I had a random date night and found ourselves at The Hope & Anchor for comedy night. The atmosphere was charming, Old English. There was a $10 cover charge that was conveniently added to our bill, the specials for the night had a nice fall theme, and a good size normal menu. We did not prefer the emcee, so I hope they switch her up, but the other 3 acts were entertaining. Our waitress was fantastic, she met our needs without interrupting the acts. Some menu items gave us a good chuckle, my husband ordered the poutine & liked it but felt it was a small portion for the price. I had the Brussel Sprout appetizer and liked them. The check does provide a cash price & a card price, which is a nice way to show how much you will be paying for a card fee prior to paying.

I was unimpressed with the bangers and mash. The tiniest little sausages I’ve had. And I’ve had Bangers and Mash in the US and several places in the British isles. The flavor was right, but the sausages disappointingly small. Especially for the high cost.
The beer was good.
If I come back - I won’t order the bangers and mash.

Good English-style food in an English pub-style setting. Marsha, one of the owners, waited on us. She was absolutely terrific. The restaurant had a chess set on a table with comfortable chairs next to a large fireplace where my friend and I played a friendly game.

In the parking lot after 11am.
Not open at 11am as stated.
Nobody answered the phone to see if they were open.

Because your prices have gotten so out of hand! It is excellent fish but in the end it's just cod and that is not an expensive fish at all. Paying over $20 for a single piece of fish, fries and slaw is ridiculous. I mean you're not serving salmon or grouper or other more expensive fish. I don't like feeling as though I am being ripped off. My fiancee is newly retired and I am disabled and therefore on disability so paying over $20 for a piece of fish, slaw and fries is ridiculous.
Prices too high. Used to have a great Friday fish fry. New levels are ridiculous.
Food was tasty, but the battered bacon had too much batter. Brussel sprouts were missing vinaigrette. Fish portions were gigantic. Fries were really good. The comedians were bad and if you were dining you had to listen to the show. No other option.

Wasn’t too impressed with the pulled pork. The waitress was nice and very prompt. I loved the crisps. If I went back it would be for the appetizers and drinks.
