I kind of grew up on Leona's, first their Lakeview location of three floors of dining room and still a 30-minute wait. Then, when I moved out of Lakeview, their Roger's Park location on Sheridan Road. Both are now closed for years. When we were driving by the Lyon's location, a few days ago, I got excited. Leona's is back and somewhat close to my home. It is definitely Leona's name, but the recipes have changed. e.g. their cheese bricks used to be lightly breaded. These are batter-dipped and deep-fried. They were not bad, just different. I chose a side salad with my steak burger; it was a good salad. Romaine lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes, black olives, shredded carrots- it was satisfying and could have been a meal itself. The burger was stacked. I did go overboard with adding grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and bacon (at an extra charge) on top of the lettuce, raw onion, and tomato. I did feel the burger patty was on the small side and got lost with all of the toppings. The bun was soft but stood up to the juicy burger. One of my dinner partners did get the pizza. The toppings were chunky and plentiful, and the crust was crispy. The other diner got the lasagna: again, not like I remember, but not bad, just different. This lasagna was looser, not the traditional casserole, sliced into cubes. This lasagna was assembled on the plate with layers of meat sauce (marinara was an option), cheese, and flat pasta. They were very pleased with their dinner and said it was very good lasagna. The only soda options were canned Pepsi products. A note about the service: you order at the counter/bar, and the waitstaff brings your order out to you. You can also order off the app through toasttab. The plates are plastic thunder group plates. They certainly cheapened the presentation. It was $90 for three adults, with tip, kind of a disconnect there with the ordering at the counter, cans of soda pop, and plastic plates. You really need to take this Leona's as an independent restaurant, not the continuation of the Chicago landmark. Much of it was good. I would happily return for the salad and lasagna. The pizza was good, not great. The burger was OK. I would not get the cheese brick again. There are a total of six tables in the restaurant, not a big place.

The pizza was okay for Chicago pizza, but not over the top and the beef sandwich. Was very salty.
In lasagna, the portion was very big and very flavorful, all in all three stars.
Kid-friendliness: The young lady who was the waitress. It was very kind end of servitude paid attention to my drinks. I was always offering a helping hand five stars.

Not the Leona’s I remember, I was really disappointed with our meal. I would not recommend the pizza at all, I came back in February and the chicken sandwich was good so I thought I would have an equally enjoyable experience. I asked the for the pizza to be well done and it was not, middle tasted soft and raw still, for the 1st time in my life I had to send the order back for more cook time. Pizza was still lousy when it came back. My mistake for not reading the reviews and trusting the name on the door.

Should have saved $15 a bought a frozen pizza from Trader Joes. Very few pepperoni and canned mushrooms. Crust was a weird consistency, like cardboard, and flavorless.

My whole order was wrong no sausage and pepperoni the sauce was not sent with the wings my pop missing my brownies missing I will not order from this location again I had to complain to be refunded if you don’t have items let the customer know. I’m disappointed read the orders I loved Leona’s before this
Attempted to call in an order. The automated system request to send you a text to order online, follow the text to link and website states they are not accepting online orders. Press 3 to speak to someone and no one answers. Finally someone answers and says you have to order online…
Restaurantji Recommends
Terrible top to bottom. Live two blocks from this place and thought it might be decent. Called to order pick up but no answer. Pull up to order the girl isn’t even in the restaurant. Finally order a 14’ cheese and sausage. Receive a 12’……… doesnt taste any better then a frozen jacks pizza. On top of that i get a coupon for my next purchase 5$ which expired may 30th and were now june 6th LOL

I would not recommend this place at all. I enjoy exploring new spots, especially in my neighborhood, but this was the worst experience. As soon as we walked in, the cook was sitting down looking upset, and the bartender/waitress was not welcoming, although she was polite. I almost left right then, but I decided to give them a chance. We ordered calamari, a chicken parm sandwich, and crusted Romano chicken dinner. Everything was overcooked and bland. I wish them the best, but I won't be returning. This place is nothing like the Leona's I remember.

My kid asked if this was frozen pizza. The wings were boiled. And what was up with the cole slaw? The ribs were okay. Thanks but no thanks.

What a weird place. I ordered an Italian Beef and a Classic Meatball sandwich. They told me it would be 20 minutes for my order to be ready. After waiting 10 minutes, they come and inform me they don’t have ingredients for either sandwiches. Don’t waste your time coming here.
