“Just when I thought there wasn’t anything new left to try in Macomb, we decided to give Z’s Restaurant a try — and wow. The photos truly do not do the food justice. You can taste the care immediately. The potatoes are not frozen — they’re fresh, par-boiled, then cooked to absolute perfection. The green peppers are fresh. The corned beef is flavorful, tender, and not overly salty (which is harder to find than you’d think). Every bite felt thoughtful and well made. We also added biscuits and gravy just to “try them”… and didn’t even come close to finishing because the portions are generous — but those homemade biscuits were warm, soft, and delicious, and the gravy had big, hearty chunks of sausage. Comfort food done right. The service deserves a special mention too — warm, genuine, and truly delightful. You feel welcomed, not rushed. Yes, it costs a little more than some breakfast spots, but it’s absolutely worth it. Quality ingredients, care in the cooking, and a great experience all around. We’ll definitely be back — next time to try lunch (another day… we were full today 😄). If you’re looking for something familiar done exceptionally well, this place is a gem.“

“Best sammiches in town. This is a Macomb must-try, on the same level as Larry A's. The sandwiches are unique in a way that you want a local sandwich shop to be, but without being wild or obnoxious. The ingrediants are all excellent and high quality, the same it's been for decades. Simply excellent.

Regarding some reviewss here, Ray is a nice dude. He's straightforward in trying to get it right. He'll admit he's a little gruff when he's busy, but it's never personal and adds to the charm and personality of the place. I know country folk expect constant politeness, fake or real, but I enjoy Ray's real-ness. He just cares about the food.“
