This is a excellent restaurant. Set in a State Park setting. The BPT. was handmade and seasoned pretty good. It was a Thursday special. Will like to go back

Good, Bad and Ugly. We have been eating here for years, recently new owners started, first time dining since then. Good - BBQ was fantastic, looked good, smelled good, tasted delicious! 5 starts for the BBQ. Bad - Very indifferent service. Restaurant has a lot of glass and great views, glass was very dirty. Always had a lot of hummingbird feeders and in summer was a great treat to watch the hummingbirds. New owners put a few feeders out, they were very dirty, moldy and full of dead bugs. Not very appetizing while dining. Ugly - Salad bar looked very picked over even though they had just opened for the day. We had to find our own plates. No salad serving utensils, server had to bring them out. Cottage cheese dried out and stuck to bottom of container. When I got my salad back to my table I discovered the eggs and tomatoes were MOLDY. We almost left right then. I told the server, politely, and he took my plate and never said a word, not sorry, nothing. We won't be back.
The twisted potato cheeseburger was phenomenal!! Could have shared it and much cheaper than thought it would be!! Awesome food ⭐️

So, we wanted to love this place. Unfortunately it was dirty and had a weird vibe. No plates for appetizer no napkins or utensils until we asked for them. I’m guessing the health department checks this place out?? The onion ring seemed to be fried in old oil, taste was gone. There was a box fan bunged to a top window. I understand they are new owners but honestly it needs to close and take the time to clean it up get organized make it appealing to want to eat there, not like eating at a strangers HOUSE. This is a tough review but it’s honest and I want you to succeed. Good luck to you, I hope you you work on improving the place.

Great view like it’s always been at Lincoln trail that’s about all the good I have to say. Ribs was so dry I literally spit them in the napkin. Tried different parts of the rib hoping that I would find a spot semi moist and they all failed. Broccoli was ok at best and the Mac n cheese wasn’t worth eating dry and the noodles was literally crunchy. I wanted spare ribs they was out so I settled for baby backs quit honestly the worst ribs I have ever had. I think they was several days old and microwaved to reheat. Sweat tea was great. The young guy waiting is just learning so no bad comments about him but he will definitely need to speak up he was hard to understand but very polite. The place definitely needed someone to clean a little inside and outside the pit area was a mess. Very disappointing considering the pics posted look amazing.
Ate on a Friday evening. Our group had catfish, steak, and French dip. All were delicious. We had apple crisp and keylime pie for dessert. We watched the hummingbirds and enjoyed a view of the lake!

I'M from TX so only TX bbq gets 5 stars. Thursday lunch, got the full order of spare ribs (lots of meat!), 2 sides. Ribs were reheated but really tender. Good bark, plenty of pink, very light seasoning (had sauce on the side). Sides were BIG, beans, mac&cheese were awesome, Both smoky, little tang/heat on the beans. Sauce was unique & good, can't say I've had sauce like this. Feeds 4 easy for $34. I'm going to work down the menu & let u know how it goes. They r not prepared for takeout of a full ribs slab, so it comes out in double foil wrap, be prepared.

Love this place when I come back to Illinois. The view is beautiful and the food is amazing. I love their Smoked Prime Rib, Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and Pulled Pork Philly. The evening servers are always polite and friendly. Best Hidden Gem in Central
