I ordered the chicken fajitas the chicken was big strips wide strips they used to be thin smaller strips which is better to cut and eat didn't care for the wide stripped this time around

I stopped by on a Tuesday evening. It was very lively and had a nice vibe. Perhaps I should have dined in. Instead I placed an order to go.
The host is nice and cordial.
The food was just eh. The steak and chicken fajitas were not flavored well, surprisingly the wraps for the fajitas seemed like they were microwaved which left them hard. I really wasted money on this meal. That's All. I should've had a V8.

Atmosphere was vibrant! Music, live bands, laughter everywhere! Steak tacos were okay, Husband maxed his Burrito no beans and they added grilled onions by request! Cost overpriced as we did not even have Margaritas and total cost was 50 - 55. But GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE is 1 reason we go back again and again!
Parking: Get there early on a Tuesday 'cause the party starts early! Nice for family but Tuesdays are developing into moee of an Adult party?. Oh, did I mention MARGARITAS ?.......

We were passing through the area looking for a place to eat.. came upon Pepe's Mexican restaurant...so glad we found it...great food, great service, & a nice lively atmosphere... definitely recommend ❤️❤️..

Update - Welp, I went back to Pepe's to update you on this family owned restaurant ... Ok, truth be told I have been coming to Pepe's restaurant in Matteson for years! I hadn't been there for a long time so I popped back in to see if anything's changed. Welp, I am sooooo glad to see something's haven't changed! I order the same thing every time I go - Nacho platter, no sour creme, extra guacamole, no meat with melted cheddar cheese (not the soupy cheese, it's still offered though. Our server Uli, was awesome!! He checked in on us several times, the food came to the table hot, we had chips and salsa and pop and water for our drinks. The atmosphere was light hearted with TV's playing sports and music later on. Everyone was very happy! I would tell you if you find yourself in Matteson, stop on by and say hello to Ricky and Uri ( if there's a birthday to celebrate having Uri sing was just the BEST. My granddaughter might disagree and say that being serenaded to and eating the fried ice cream was the best! The beverages range from: shot flights, Huge margaritas to pop and of course Horchatas!!
My family has been coming to the Matteson, Illinois Pepe's Mexican Restaurant for over 20 years. I get the same thing every time .. Nacho platter, no meat, no sour cream, extra guacamole with baked cheese (not nacho cheese) and a side of RC. The owner Ricky is just the best and he has memorized my order. They offer tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more! They offer drink and menu specials as well. Definitely go and check them out!!
Kid-friendliness: The kids menu offers Mexican and American options such as chicken tenders with fries and/or rice and beans. Children of all ages are welcome!

I've been here thrice to eat in and once for carry-out, and I have yet to be disappointed. (I've not heard any negative reports from friends, either.)
The service is always good. Maybe not exceptionally incredible, but very good. Everyone from the hostess on in is friendly and attentive. (Yesterday, they let us change tables several minutes after we were seated cos my friend was cold.) Most importantly, our food is *always* exactly as ordered.
Speaking of the food: It is both authentic Mexican and absolutely delicious. In all the times we've gone, neither I nor anyone I've been with was even disappointed, let alone unhappy, with their meal.
