Was there for an event. Which was not very big((25ish ppl) and was during lunch on Saturday.. Two servers for the whole party... Salad's were brought out, then Soups then the dressings were brought out for the salads... as the dressings were being handed out the food started arriving... So just a slight disruption in flow with food. Burgers were slightly overcooked. Again it was cooking for a party so hard to get everything 100% perfect.. Over all pretty good.

Full disclosure: we're regulars at this location, and it's 100% because of the people. Our daughter is autistic and nonverbal, and VERY picky about food and environments. She has formed a huge connection with the staff here, and she does a happy dance every time we ask if she wants to go see Matt for lunch or dinner. Matt has been taking care of us for quite some time now, and he's absolutely the best. Because of him, Bulldog feels like home for our whole family. Our girl skips in the front door and always finds it so fun that Matt has her drink on the table by the time she sits down. Ashley's wonderful, too...we're kinda here a lot, and I bet we're one of the only families that comes in and plays cards so much, so I guess it's not too crazy that she remembers us (our daughter is also SUPER memorable), but it's always nice to be greeted like family when we arrive. We've been here every day of the week for lunch and dinner, by ourselves and with large groups for special occasions - the daily and happy hour specials are great, and you pretty much can't go wrong with the food and drinks. But what REALLY keeps us coming back is the people. Take it from the weirdos who make every excuse we can to visit.Matt and Ashley, thanks for everything you do for us and your other guests...you're freaking rock stars, and we're all lucky to have you.

I go here a lot or used to anyway... This place needs help. Getting run down. Look at the bar stools, but maybe since they fired the last manager, it will get better. They don’t carry common drinks like White Claw or Truleys. No top shelf vodka? Why? Need to correct some things, and maybe I'll come backI will say Will the Bartender there is great!

Would give a negative if I could. Restaurant half empty, service sucked, food sucked, manager was disrespectful. Place should be closed

Took the family for friday night fish fry. Prices were very good for what you got. Waitress was super friendly and attentive to our table. Food came out hot and was great. Kids enjoyed their food as well. We had drinks and they were great too. Will definitely return.

we tried to ordered a Moscow Mule and waitress said the bartender can't make it and she said that we had to order cocktails from the menu. When we looked at the cocktail menu it had varieties of Mules (mezcal, blueberry mules) but refused to make a simple Moscow mule which is easier To make compared to the ones on the menu--and the whisky sour I ordered tasted like crap.

I held a birthday lunch for my mom with 20 people. From calling to inquire about the date and time, to arriving and having the hostess play along to get my mom into the party room for the surprise, the staff was welcoming and accommodating. Our server, Grace, was phenomenal and so attentive. With so many people just ordering off of the menu, Grace was a champ. She always made sure people had their drinks, made sure the food was good and cleared away empty plates when finished. My mom can't stop raving about the day and I am so thankful that Grace and Bulldogs helped create a special birthday experience for my mom.

Went here by chance because the restaurant we were going to was surprisingly closed. Was 6p on a friday. The server was on the first day and was super friendly and accommodating to our high maintenance table. Extensive beer list ( some homemade, different location)and a few cocktails. The cocktails were meh. We had a mule in a plain lowball instead of copper cup, no garish, too sweet, not enough alcohol and the ginger was lite. The other was some kind of raspberry martini, our person liked it. We got 3 apps: jalapeno poppers, flat, overcooked flavorless. Brussle sprouts with asian chili sauce, which was good. Well cooked and seasoned. Lastly, the chicken wings got the hot version, little spicy, well cooked but average. For the main, we got 2 pizzas. The people we went with knew about the famous pizza oven from Italy, so our hopes were high. The spicy pepperoni was that, pretty spicy with the Calabrese peppers. The meat was sliced a little too thin to get the flavor of the meat. The other pizza we got a custom white sauce with mushroom, onions, and garlic. The consensus was that it was not mushroomy enough. So, the main issue is the crust. It was not really pizza crust. It was like bread , not crispy, not chewy, salt free, and dry. The top of the pizza looked good from the fancy oven, but the bottom seemed undercooked. Too bad, with a real dough, the pizza would be pretty good. For desert, we had the rum chata breat pudding, good and flavorful. We also had the molten chocolate brownie? Also, good. Was interesting seved in a cast iron pan, so there were little crunchy bits that added to the texture in a good way. The atmosphere was nice. We sat in the bar area. Little dark but could still see the menus. Reminded me of a pub. Overall, good service and atmosphere, sub-par pizza( because of the crust). Average apps, good beer, meh cocktails.

Went in to this restaurant after a baseball tournament in Wisconsin. The place was nearly empty. I was approached by an employee. I said are you open? He said yes. I then said I have approximately one to two dozen people coming. Can you accommodate us? He said yes. Then some of my group arrived and we began to merge tables. The staff didn't like that we were moving tables. Once we sat down, it took me 20min to get a bottled beer. Others had to wait longer for a simple glass of wine. Once we got our food, it was not very good. Overall, I would have to say avoid this establishment.

Bulldog Ale House in McHenry,2/5There were 5 of us and we were not impressed with the food. The saving grace was the server, Kevin. He answered every question and always had the drinks full with a smile. It was also an unusual length of time to get food.Starter we did tator tots and jalapeño poppers. Menu stated it had bacon, we didn't get bacon. We still ate them as is. The other funny part was they put the sauce on top of the sizzling dish and melted the sauce container.Dinner 1 was a kids hamburger with broccoli. Broccoli was hot, but black as in bad.Dinner 2, Baja burger with broccoli. Also bad. But the burger was fine, nothing to write home about. Side of coleslaw tasted like feet and was warm.Dinner 3, Cobb salad. It was fine.Dinner 4, fish and chips, fries were cold, fish was piping hot.Dinner 5, gluten free avocado and the egg on it was cold. All in all, I wouldn't go back. I was personally really disappointed they served bad broccoli. Pricing for everything was absolutely reasonable for what we got, just wish it was better food!

My experience here was poor, but the others in my party thought it was "OKAY," so 3 stars. The place was empty the evening we were there, but service was slow. The kid who delivered our food was wearing ear buds, and couldn't hear us as he gave people the wrong meals and didn't care. I asked our server for a gluten free bun, as I'm allergic. When my burger arrived, I asked the server to confirm if the bun was GF (it didn't look like it to me). Her response was "That's what I wrote on the ticket" and walked away. I didn't eat the bun. My food was completely cold, both the burger and the waffle fires. My meal wasn't worth the price. I won't be going back.

Terrible food and service!!!! Pot pie was burnt and completely broken in pieces. Chicken was rubbery like a frozen chicken breast.Goat on a date salad had pink chicken in it.Walked in for pick up and waited 8 minutes before the bar tender was behind the bar. Had to chase someone down to check. All while bartender said they can't see my order on they're screen.Called back to notify. And all that the manager had to say and/or offer was we are low staffed.Never will go here again.

Great food and service on a dreary rainy Sunday afternoon. We enjoyed the Brussels Sprouts appetizer (surprisingly good) and Fish and Chips. Four pieces of fish would be ideal (vs. the three that were served). A more generous serving of fries would be wonderful! We will be back soon!

Randomly visited for dinner. Turned out to be half priced pizza night! Pizza was absolutely delicious, and incredible for the price. We had a cheese and an Italian beef. So good! Waitress was great as well. Only complaint is that it was so dark in there. Need to turn the lights up a touch.
