The best food, umm. Can't beat the breakfast. Ham off the bone is awesome. O'brian potatoes. Plus fast and super attentive employees.

The food flavor and portion sizes were good and the environment conducive to conversation. Service was timely despite the busyness of the venue. No regrets.

Stopped into Little Chef and ordered the Veggie Benny, and honestly—so good. The plate came out looking insanely comforting: perfectly runny yolks under a thick, velvety blanket of hollandaise, plus sautéed veggies tucked in there for flavor and color. The hollandaise was the standout for me—super smooth, rich, and not overly tangy.

The hash browns were crisp on the outside and soft inside, and the whole dish felt like the kind of breakfast that just makes your day better.

The environment at Little Chef is simple and cozy—definitely on the tighter side, but in a way that feels homey rather than cramped. It has that classic small-spot charm where you can sit, enjoy your food, and relax.

Went here for the first time today (10/12), and by 2:30, my boyfriend and I are both puking, cold sweats, and feeling faint. For the price, I’m very disappointed that we got sick from this food. We both got the biscuits and gravy combos, the hashbrowns were bland as ever, the sausage links weren’t cooked thoroughly, and the bacon tasted like microwave bacon. This will be the first and last time we go here.

This was the only thing we have ate today.

The ispy books you can play with here are a little too challenging for the average reader

No frills, just amazing food and an amazing staff!

Today Kelly was our server and she was amazing as always, along with her daughter Ella who works alongside her.

I will be back tonight, they do dinners on Tuesdays and they never disappoint! A true McHenry gem.

I don’t like to leave bad reviews, especially for a local non chain restaurant. But, I have to share our experience so others know. The food is very bland, hashbrowns are just fried potatoes without any seasoning, scrambled eggs are the same you’d get from McDonald’s, the French toast bread was still wet/soggy but had burnt flavor. The worst of everything is the sausage links. They’re about 95% fat and undercooked.

Not sure how they have 4.7 stars unless it’s friends and family leaving reviews. This place is truly awful- it honestly makes IHop seem like a 5 star restaurant. The staff is also extremely unfriendly!

Kills me to write a bad review on this place because it’s been a long time favorite local location due to the nostalgia that my grandmother used to be a waitress there in the mid to late 90’s into the early 2000’s but we had a bad experience all around.

1. The location does not apparently accept phone orders on the weekends. Inconvenient to have someone have to physically drive to a location to place an order, wait; and then leave. The goal is convenience so we can get on with our busy lives.

2. Food quality. - ordered a biscuit and gravy combo with eggs sunny side up, hash browns; sausage and bacon. The eggs were undercooked and snotty. Any quality chef would know how to cook sunny side up to the proper consistency throughout. Bacon - brown and serve out of a microwave maybe? Sausage? Rubbery… doesn’t look like breakfast sausage, suspect some brown and serve like brand here too.

Biscuits and gravy - imagine taking some sort of flat biscuit that looks like a mini pancake and pouring Campbells mushroom soup over it and calling it biscuits and gravy, because that’s what it both looked and tasted like. NO THANKS - from someone that actually enjoys campbells mushroom soup in recipes.

The unseasoned bland hash browns were probably the best part. Definitely not worth 15.00.
I’m starting to feel like due to poor economic conditions people are losing site of what a reasonable expectation to eat quality/tasteful food is.

Would have rather had Burger King for breakfast. Would have been better and cheaper too.

Sorry grandma!

I used to work a block away from here and would have this all the time and now that our office moved, I truly miss it. Very friendly staff and the food is amazing! I'll be back!
