We visited McHenry Brewing Company in (surprise) the town of McHenry awhile back. MBC is stationed in an historic building dating from 1868 (that's what the plaque says). Barrels have been decorated and repurposed as stools - fun! I enjoyed my fruity beer, and I hear that the root beer is good too. Interestingly enough, they have a turntable with LP's that you can play - yup real wax records. Although we did not play any of the albums, it was neat to peruse the checklist of everything in this music collection.

A great stop to add to any trip. Over a dozen beers on tap, nothing we tried disappointed! The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about his brews, a great place to visit!

I really love the overall ambiance of this place. It is small and quant. The brewery is located in a building built in the late 1800's and I can't say enough about the decor. It has a cute little beer garden outside as well. All the beer I tried was very good; scotch ale, New England style ipa, brown ale, etc. I would definitely come back here again.

Here is yet another small town brewery. It has a large amount on tap for not having much room. McHenry Brewing Company is a hangout for mostly locals it seems. Felt like it wasn't a place out of towners usually go. They will certainly take anyone's money. Came here before leaving town and got a few beers. It seems like it's not as much of a hipster hangout as other craft breweries for sure. There were only a few crusty locals hanging around the bar, so it seems like a place for people in town to come complain about things. Anyway, the beer. It's about $5 a pint. I had the Pearl Street Pilsner. This is a Czech pilsner, and it was light and smooth. Food is lacking. It's $5 for Firesticks pretzels. They let you bring in outside food though. For sure it's not a hipster attraction. It's just about good a** beer. There's a few greasy barbecue restaurants close to it so you can bring in food from those or wherever.

Brewer needs to step up taste profiles, but beer is not bad.

Beer has definitely improved over the past few years. Up to 14 beers on tap, including 9 that are brewed on site. No food but can order or carry in. I’ve been complaining about no good breweries nearby, and it seems as though I should give MBC another chance.Tom Brady IPA a nice not overly hoppy IPA that I think a lot of people could enjoy. Several Sew Hop’s beers as well on draft. Attached photos of menu as of St Patrick’s Day 2022. ?

This building was built as a brewery in 1868 and brewed beer continuously until after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1942, making it one of the oldest breweries in the US. Unlike other breweries, this did not shut down during Prohibition! The owner served 2 prison sentences, but never stopped brewing. It opened again in 2012, and is now a family-owned microbrewery with good beer and a great place to sit and talk, outside in the beer garden weather permitting, in the park across the street for summer City concerts on Thursday evenings, indoors for vinyl records on Wednesdays. Not much food, but occasionally has a food truck or pretzels or candy bars for sale. Usually has a cider or two on tap, sometimes a visiting brew, and wine or water for beer phobics, but the main attraction are Bob's beers, especially scotch or red ales but also IPAs and porters. Flights available, Growlers or Crowlers to go.

Very friendly place, almost a "Cheers"feeling. Great selection of beers too.

Place was empty, one flat IPA and a few souts. This is my 5 time trying this brewery. Owner needs to brew what people like, not what owner likes... Place has potential and would be great if the beer taste better..

The Peraid was happening this Sunday. Mr. Bojangles and me were out for a walk. Them guys were selling hotdogs and brots. I had two brotwerz and mr Bojangles had himself a dog with katchup. The food was very good. I went inside and it cost a dollar for a small bottle of water. So I got a beer instead. The beer is good. It was hot out. I had another beer and watched more of the people in the peraid. A nice lady gave Mr Bojangles water. It was hot and I had more beer. The peraid ended and I was still hot. I found a bottle of water and Mr.Bojangles had the water and I had beer. I like the different beers. I found an open beer and took it home. It took a long time to walk home with Mr Bojangles. I just finished the beer I found . It was the best one and I can't find my way out of the room. Mr Bojangles is calling for me. Good food. Nice people at the peraid. Expensive water and good beer. I give 5 stars to everything but the water.
