We drove to Mendota to visit a museum that had a section dedicated to Wild Bill Hickock. After that we began to look for a local food place to have lunch. We stopped to ask someone who was on their porch, and they said we should try Parkway. My grandson and I loved the place. Such friendly people working there. I asked our waitress if they were all family, because they all looked they could be, haha. She said they were a family. Grandson ordered a big hamburger meal and I chose the pork tenderloin. He was happy with his meal, and I must say the tenderloin was not only big, it was so very delicious. One of the best I have ever eaten. Not sure when we will get back to Mendota, but when we do I know where we will have a meal. God bless this family.

Not from here. We stopped for a waffle and biscuits and gravy. Took 35 minutes. I informed our server, who said the cook forgot, and the owner, who only stared at me. They could've had the grace to offer a discount.

Parkway is a very nice, inexpensive family restaurant. We were here on a holiday for lunch. It was not crowded. Service was excellent with friendly wait staff. The wait cor the food was a bit long considering the number of people in the restaurant, we weren't in a hurry so that wasn't really a problem.
The lunch menu was fairly extensive with options of normal lunch items. Hamburgers were excellent and didn't seem to be pre-formed patties. Sodas come in a can rather than fountain service. Prices are extremely fair for the meals too
The business hours are 6am-3pm, plenty of parking available with wheelchair access.

A standard of excellence that is rarely found. I ordered the parkway special with sausage gravy and pancakes. This is the ONLY restaurant where the pancake side is excellent. The potatoes were perfectly cooked on a griddle and had great crunch around the edge. Everything was the best including the staff.
