It is really hard to find a good Chinese restaurant nowadays. With that said, I still haven't!I have given this place gum wahSo many opportunities to prove themselves worthy of my patronage, that is simply not the case. The food is just absolutely tasteless.. Bland as can be. When I first started ordering from gum wah, the food had some level of flavor. it was greasy but then it became a time when it was just hit or miss. It could have a little flavor or it wouldn't have any flavor. This last time was it for me! they will never get another $50,$60 or $70 from my family AGAIN!

My go-to place for Chinese in the South Suburbs. They are efficient, and I would suggest calling your order in - great shrimp egg

This use to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the south suburbs not any more the egg rolls are always under cooked or over cooked and burnt then I ordered wings that came looking like something out of a horror movie 0/10 they have really gone down in my opinion I can’t recommend them again smh

So I most definitely gotta leave a review hey guys those of you who have followed my reviews always know that I love to let others know about my experience that I have had which might be different from yours but hey this is my review. so I stepped out on faith today as I visited this restaurant located in Midlothian the name of the restaurant is called Gum Wah I'm a pretty loyal Patron meaning that when I like something I'm going to keep going there so my to go to restaurant I forgot it's closed on Sundays so I was looking on Google nearby restaurants and this one kind of stood out to me I checked the menu I read almost like 90 reviews and I looked at their food online so I said hey why not the gentleman that I talked to over the phone just had a really good energy about him you know like I could tell that he really cares about delivering world class customer service so this next comment doesn't have anything to do with them there wasn't really like a lot of spaces to park so I had to park in this Auto shop parking lot I looked around to see if my vehicle was going to be towed I didn't see anything plus I wasn't going to be in the restaurant very long which was next door so the gentleman at the pickup window was the same gentleman that I talked to over the phone I told him I was here for a pickup and while I waited for my food I think I waited less than 5 minutes I was looking at the menu and I just really had a great conversation with the gentleman that took my payment that I wanted to extend my gratitude & appreciation so I left a tip and I had to get a smoothie I really like smoothies by the way I got a strawberry mixed with banana and I added tapioca to my smoothie so when my order was ready and I left the tip on the merchant reciept copyThe gentleman gave me some Chinese almond cookies which you guys don't know are one of my favorite cookies and I really like the fortune cookies as well they always have a comforting message that I read when you crack them open I ordered a large chicken fried rice for my wife and son and I and I also got four vegetable egg rolls so I drink the whole entire smoothie before I got home and I wanted to wait and save the almond cookies. when I got home I ate all three almond cookies I left one so my wife can try it so she can see what all the fuss is about I have never had vegetable egg rolls so fresh also the chicken fried rice was so perfectly put together I might have found me a new Chinese restaurant also besides Chinese they specialize in Cantonese Mandarin and Szechuan cuisines so let me leave you with this if you guys are in the Midlothian community please visit this establishment they definitely deserve 10 Stars they are open Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday and they're closed on Monday.

The food is amazing. Always fresh and hot and the staff is always nice. Worth the prices. Also the owner Jimmy walked me to my car when I felt unsafe with a guy being weird outside. That very nice of Jimmy really do appreciate it! After that you guys will always have my business, thank

Gave this place a 2nd try after first bad experience about a year ago, hoping it was just a fluke. First time, my husband ordered "general tso chicken" but he said the chicken was tough and chewy, and the sauce was not like every other Chinese restaurant sauce. It was more like sweet n sour without the pineapple. The food wasn't that good but the smoothie I ordered was excellent. The second experience was worse. The "general tso chicken" was still sweet n sour chicken without the pineapple, but loaded with bell peppers and carrots. I wanted lo mein noodles instead of rice, but the person taking the order didn't know what that was. They gave us fettuccine looking noodles, white, flat and wide. It was close to closing time so by the time the food got home it was too late to complain to the restaurant. The meat wasn't chewy this time but it also again wasn't what all other Chinese restaurants serve up as "general tso", so we will not be returning to Gum Wah.

We ordered Mongolian beef and what we got instead was a veggie stir fry with some beef and bland gravy. I order Mongolian beef from different places often and normally it's quite spicy and flavorful, but this Mongolian beef was very disappointing. And the crab rangoons were extremely fishy I've never experienced anything like it.
