If your looking for a hole in the wall food stop that specializes in one thing this is your place! Fanominal atmosphere and customer service! The gentleman that took my order talked to me about the deep history in the building and its humble beginnings. Another bonus is that their rubens are massive!
I moved to KCMO 30 years ago but I still remember the Reuben on Raisin rye as the sandwich all other Reubens are measured by. Still have some family in the QCA; next time I'm in the area, picking up another is on my short list.
The restaurant has been closed for in person dining for quite a while, but they still sell their Vanderuben rubin sandwiches cold two days a week. They also offer their Rasinruben sandwiches and a tuna sandwich called the Charlie (pun intended). Many salads are also available. Great food, too bad, no more in person dining.
