Burts place is a super let down. Does not live up to the hype that's for sure. This review is from my experience before and after Burt. The recipe seems to have stayed the same. Sauce bland, sausage bland, and over cooked every time I've been there. Seems to have tasted the same from the first I went when Burt and his wife served me. I'm giving 2 stars for the upgrade inside and outside that the restaurant desperately needed. The service was slow because they cater to the regulars more than they do to anyone else and made it very obvious. In my opinion, I would choose Milly’s, peqouds and Lefty's kitchen over Burts Place any day! 100 % don't recommend.

Have been going to Burt's Place since Burt owned it. As always, we ordered and reserved a table an hour and a quarter ahead of time. We would then drive from Indiana for an hour and a quarter through Chicago traffic to Burt's. As you can see, we enjoyed being there for a while. (See photos) But after waiting at our table for an additional half an hour, for something that has always been ready at the reserved time. This is how this restaurant has always worked. So, frustrated, we finally left. NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, NO EXPLANATION, NO FOOD. The new owner used to be concerned about how to honor Burt, but now is running it into the ground. Burt is probably rolling in his grave. He was a good man, and doesn't deserve to be associated with this place anymore. They need to change fast or their reputation will lose even the pizza foodies here for their first time.

Finally got to try Burt’s Place and it definitely lived up to the hype. The sauce at Pequod’s is still my favorite, but everything else here was excellent. The thicker, buttery pan-style crust and caramelized edges were delicious, and the cheese curds were some of the best I’ve ever had.
The staff was great very friendly and attentive which made the experience even better. Service was quick, and everyone made us feel welcome. The patio was also a really nice touch and a perfect spot to enjoy a meal on a nice day.
No wonder Anthony Bourdain called this the only deep dish pizza he ever loved. I would definitely go back.
Stopped in here with my buddy last night and it was phenomenal. Really solid pan pizza, similar style to Pequods in downtown Chicago but I actually think Burt’s was better! Nice crispy crust, good ratio of cheese to sauce and not overloaded with toppings. We also got some cheese curds and the portion was huge for the price point.
Definitely worth checking out!

I ordered the pepperoni pan pizza and the crust had that perfect crispy ring that really stood out. The space is modest but welcoming with fun old time touches that feel personal. Staff were kind and even took a moment to explain the seating and patio options quietly. Everything felt relaxed and unpretentious. I will be bringing friends next visit.
