We went there due to the high rating from Red book, however, it was the worst experience that I have ever had! The service was so bad, the female waiter always seems like not hearing what we said, unresponsive, when it comes to something we cannot understand well due to language, she was so impatient to explain, about to be mad at us. Also, food was not authentic at all! So bad and so expensive, not worthy of it at all!!! Finally, not vegetarian friendly at all! When I asked about that, she was so mad!Vegetarian options: No any vegetarian options!!! The waiter was even mad when I asked about that!!

Me and my friend entered the restaurant at around 7:10 PM on 3/27, then I told the waitress that we have two people. She then told us there is a 30 minutes wait, and we stayed. After roughly 15 minutes, two tables of customers left the restaurant, and there is only one group of 4 in front of us, meaning both my group and their group can soon be seated. The waitress cleaned up the first table and asked the group in front of us (Koreans) to take a seat. Then, she pushed the cleaning cart to the second table right before she went to another group of customers to take their orders. Now I have no idea if she forgot that we are still waiting or something, she and another waitress never clean up the second table while wondering around doing nothing. Yet, whenever any group of Korean customers asked for their help, they rushed to them. It stayed like this for 40 minutes until another group of 3 white customers entered. The waitresses also ignore them. I feel they were being racist to my group and another group of white customers because we aren't Koreans. In the end, we left after waited for more than an hour.

*Grilled tripe that is more Korean than Korea*This is a tripe lover who traveled to the United States. I've been to many places including Wangsimni and Sinchon, so I honestly thought I wouldn't be impressed. But the tripe here is fresher and more plentiful than in Korea. If you think about it, it’s obvious, right? Meat is very cheap in America haha.Oh, the fried rice is also really big..I ate tripe, but I can’t resist ordering fried rice, right? I was so full that I tried to take it out, but it was so delicious that I ate it all.If you go to Chicago, you must eat it.. Really..

Seafood pancakes price went from 13 to 28 in two years. Soup that is supposed to contain pork barely has any pork in it. This place is a ripoff and the owner was rude when we asked him why the steep price increase. We wanted to support a local business but given our experience obviously we will never order from here again. Ever.

28$ for a "seafood pancake" with no seafood that wasn't even good. They're blatantly gouging and they know it. The rest of the food was middling at best. Not worth it for the insane prices and not worth dealing with these greedy people...

Their food is good and I used to love this place, but those ladies have terrible service. I just walked out due to the lady’s horrible attitude. I will never come back.

I’m Korean and this is the best Korean restaurant hands down. The other Korean restaurants do not come close to the care and love the food has.

I used to live in Korea so I often miss the Korean food there and want to go to different restaurants to have the food. After looking on Google I decided on Hwang Soh Grill for the high ratings, but the experience was just okay. It was just two of us. We are “foreigners” and it was my friend’s first experience with Kbbq and Korean food.We ordered 2 servings of SamgyeopSal, a sprite , and two bowls of rice. Our entire order came to about $50 dollars. I do not recall if gratuity was included, but I’ve read the review that some customers were charged gratuity. The side dishes were pretty good, we were also given two cups of water (they did not offer refills of water to us while we ate). The samgyeopsal was pretty bland in taste. I think only pepper was added. They do grill the meat for you. However, the server grilling for us became busy as more people arrived and we ended up turning the grill off and turning the meat ourselves to avoid burning our meat.Since we could see that others had came in and were waiting to be seated we planned to prepare to leave. We were not there long. We came in after many parties and left before them as well. Without asking a server came to our table and put the meat in our plates and took the grilling tray. Then we were brought our check. When I went up to pay, it was a bit awkward. I don’t know who the man behind the counter responsible for cashing us out was, but he looked strangely at my receipt after I signed and said “No tip?” I shook my head politely even though now was really uncomfortable and awkward. And then he rudely stated, “we neeeeed tip!”I was very shocked that he would say something like this. I was also confused as this is not how we go about our tipping culture here in the States and the tipping culture in restaurants in Korea is nonexistent. So what made him think it was okay to demand a tip from a customer? I am not sure and cannot answer that question.Anyways, I told this bold man that an additional tip could not be demanded from a customer. I returned to my table and me and my friend exited the building. I didn’t even wait to put my jacket on before leaving.I am so sad that my friends first experience with Korean food and culture was like this.Lastly, I do have some tip for you here. If you want people to tip you and give you more of their hard earned money, you have to provide the best service and experience for each customer. Tips are not something you should automatically be given. It is for going above and beyond for the customer.
