Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Worst cracker barrel we have ever been. Waited for almost an hour, everyone around got their food and they kept delaying our food. Asked to pay for the sodas and cornbread and canceled the order. Manager came and “took care of it”. Really? And the compensation for our lost time during a road trip? At the exit, one of the people told us they were also disappointed and that was actually considered a sundown city, not welcoming to tourists or by passers and we should avoid at all costs. We will for sure! Maybe you should as well.

We were traveling and decided to stop for dinner. Big mistake. After a 15 minute wait to be seated, they were out of the Thursday night special (it was 6:30). Then, after waiting another 30 minutes they come out to say they were out of the soup I ordered as she brought everyone else’s food. Instead of ordering something else my husband shared his country fried steak with me. Cold mashed potatoes and corn. I mean, what the heck. I asked to speak to the manager, instead of actually coming out speaking to us, took a whopping $5 off the bill. Thanks a pantload Chet. AND forgot to take the soup I didn’t get off the bill, so had to wait again to get that fixed. We will not be stopping there on our way back through on our way home.

Severely lacking in hospitality! We stopped there last night after a long day’s drive, around 7:30. No smiles from our server, and rudeness from the hostess at the checkout. The chicken and dumpling soup orders were cold. The other entrees were warm, not hot, but not cool enough to send back.
Maybe they were short-staffed or at the end of a long shift, but some hospitality and hot food would have been appreciated by weary travelers.

If you come to cracker barrel in Mount Vernon ask them not to give you the server Shelby!! I was in cracker barrel last night and had the worst experience of my life. I walked in and everyone was super nice and friendly. My waitress didnt come over to my table for 10 minutes so another waitress finally noticed and asked me if I have been waited on. she was super nice and got my drink and good order. a couple minutes later my server came over and introduced herself. she was very dry and rude. I looked at her name tag and her name was Shelby. everytime I asked her for something she would roll her eyes and act like it was to much. when she brought my food out she forgot my cornbread so I asked her if I could get some and she didnt come back for 5 minutes. when she came back she tossed it down on the table and walked away. I also asked her for a refill and she never brought it. I finally gave up on asking her for things and just asked her for a togo box and my check. she dropped off the ticket and never brought the box. I stopped another server and asked for a box and she got me one and apologized about the wait. If I ever come back here I will request to not have her (Shelby) as a server.

Food is still good but prices are ridiculous. 6 beiget for $6 is crazy. Steak, potato and salad plus drink is $30. This used to be a family friendly restaurant, not anyymore.

Food and service was FANTASTIC. The atmosphere is somewhat loud , but I think that’s just the design of the dining room.
Overall we are very satisfied . Our waitress Kristen Dona an EXCELLENT job.

Tonight was our first visit to this cracker barrel. We had a lovely experience! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. She offered, advice on favorites from the menu and suggested a few of her favorites. Our food came out hot and perfectly cooked. We both ordered fried chicken (home style and chicken fried chicken). The portions were much more than we expected for the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The store was clean and we'll stocked. As busy as they were tonight we did not have a wait time which was nice. We will definitely be going back!
